"Into The Wild" is in many ways the rightful successor of "Stand By Me" (1986) - an epic adventure and self discovery journey, which throws us into the inner world of the hero(s) and his own unique way to find meaning in his life. Both movies are tremendously moving and inspiring - because the characters are so beautifully portrayed as genuine human beings we can all identify with.
Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.
