  • In my exp a punch ...

In my exp a punch to the throat has a higher rate of misses and failure to connect than say a web hand or a ridge hand...a sharp strike to the throat means you gain advantage, but the fight isnt over...Good video...and thanks telmac899 for saying what we all were thinking.

No, it won't, sidgiman. Every guy's been kicked in the balls, knows how much it hurts, and won't let it happen. And if you try and fail, you just signed your death wish because that will piss them off and they will kill you. A throat punch works better.

  • You can stick with ...

You can stick with your opinion if you want, tried an true this is one best NOT to use if you value your current state of health. It works with a willing partner, low power, little resistance and in a safe training center... you have none of those in reality/on the street. Even with a partner "trying" to resist its not very accurate, you probablly need someone who doesnt value your health and wants to prove you wrong to get the idea through. Now just imagine someone who wants to kill you. -b boy

  • I can see what you ...

I can see what you mean by easily getting pulled away, I just tried it and it really isn't that hard, but the automatic reaction of most people is to push your arm in the opposite direction of what it is being pushed, in this case it is being pushed to the side and pushing back only causes more pain. as long as you don't keep them in that position for a long time you should be good

  • thats what studying ...

thats what studying the martial arts is for. it's hard to explain but it's possible to do that move one handed and take the weapon with the other, but if you don't do that, you could continue to do the move and take him to the ground/break his wrist, and in the case of taking him to the ground you could get him in an americana and either pin him or break his shoulder, or reverse it into an armbar...

  • try having someone ...

try having someone use that technique on you, then try adding any kind of momentum for a hit in that direction, you'll find that the only way to give a good punch is to twist your body, and twisting your body will put pressure on your wrist... and continuing to do so will eiter injure or break it

  • Plus, the left hand ...

Plus, the left hand I believe is in reference to the person punching you on the face multiple times after you grab their hand and start playing with it, duh they dont want you to have there weapon :P It is also easy to grab your own hand and completly override kote gaeshi by twisting in the opposite direction. Compliance tech like that never work well without some use of setting up with strikes, striking durring or incapacitating via other means. Later -b boy

  • Third, if the ...

Third, if the opponent just trys pulling away violently (not encouraged what so ever in formal training) the grip is lost nearly 100% of the time, I know because I have conducted such tests not with just aikidoka, but karateka, JJ, BJJ, russian, chinese, korean and other such artist. And all are conclusive, a person who is SERIOUS about getting a hand free, will get it free (with this technique that is).

  • Im sorry, but the ...

Im sorry, but the experts pull this off against complient attackers while training. You must gain control of the hand in just the prescribed method, without any resistance or you lose this position (BTW this technique is called kote gaeshi, ko = small, te = hand and gaeshi = returning/ inside out) further it is VERY easy to lose proper positioning on the hand, often both people are freq. drying there hands on their pants/hakama before & after due to sweat, atleast if your training moderatly.
