great audio, too bad there wasn't any video to go with it. I've heard a bunch of different pre DSOTM bootlegs, and it's interesting to hear how the songs evolved until they were finally committed to tape on DSOTM. On the Run was originally an extended guitar jam for example. Keep the old Floyd stuff coming, and a big thank you to chrisocony for sharing.

i think i prefer the song in this form, actually.

one of the reasons i was attracted to the floyd in the first place was the somber, introspective tone of their music. this version is just really sad.

totally true! the iprov nature of those early shows i find really raw and exciting, true creativity

thanks - i agree with you; i listened to this hundreds of times; i didn't realize there were negative comments here; this version is special and it is a bit slow and downbeat but that is how the song was in those early shows; as they moved into April and May of 1972, the final version of the song came to be; but this is history, this is the song at and advanced stage still being developed

this THE greatest versions i've ever heard the sound is so simple mesmerising and beautiful, the vocals naive underwhelming and truely relevant. I just play this over and over again, anyone who analyses this piece overcritically and just puts it to them bring wasted! clearly doesn't understand the concept of their earlier music and Dark Side itself.

Thanks for putting up one of the greatest songs of all-time... Quality might not be great, and the vocal work don't sound too inspiring, but anyone can hear the regular version.

If only Pink Floyd got the same attention as American I-dull.

there 74 version in wembly is better, I would say they were off there faces doin this. As live at pompeii was far better musically in 1971.

I think his solos on both the album and Pulse version are superior, but it *was* an early version, and better than anything I'll ever write.

Yeah he does. David has a very large range of pitch. He can sing high pitched vocals, and low ones too. Rick though sings at the same pitch normally.

David and Richard both sing most of the song together. Richard Wright sings the first couple lines of the chorus while I think David attempts some high pitched some vocal harmonies in the background. But then they both sing the rest of the chorus.
