Break dancing and popping quickly died around 1985 after Krush Groove came out.

People basically performed a butchered mix of East Coast b-boying (windmills, backspins, swipes, footwork and baby freeze) and West Coast funkstyles (popping, locking, etc.) without realising they were distinct styles of dance with their own music. Because sythesised music was so popular at time a lot of people were dancing to beats you'd normally only use for popping, rather than proper b-boy funk.

The sad thing about this is that almost none of these kids ever 'made' it. 'Breakdance' as they called it was splashed over the pages from 83-86 and then just dropped off the radar. People treated it as a fad and I'm not surprised: everyone who was new to the dance was doing the same S**t as everyone else because there was this idea that you learn 'moves' and then you can 'breakdance'.

*GAWD*... some things just needs to be kept alive. This. At this time. The way it was. This needs to be brought back.
