I thought my description of transient droop was much more understandable than yours, but to each his/her own. My point was that this had nothing to down with a settling with power issue.

Sounds like a very good description of poor collective manipulation and a very poor description of transient droop - you've described the tendency, but not the mechanical reality. As the input module in a h-60 aircraft contains a freewheeling unit, rotor overspeed would not cause the an engine overspeed the rotor would simply overrun the engine and the ECU/DEC/FADEC would not trigger overspeed protection. Transient droop would take place during an abrupt collective increase.

i think it was an auto rotation because you can hear the guy on the video say that the helicopter lost power

Good idea cutting trees with helicopters, but a little bit expensive... Pilot or drunk make your choice ( not the two )

Looks to me like he got into settling with power...really heavy flair right into his own downwash...you can see a lot of coning in the rotor disk just prior to impact...

hey, i just notice it looks like he's coming in full flare like from an autorotation. is that just my misperception or was this some kind of landing demo gone wrong? it might explain flying into trees.

Not really, they likely don't come off except if they hit ground or something else very solid closer to the rotor center.
