In my opinion , the swords made on this video don't have good properties because of the steel used and the bad grinding and heat treating.(I am referring to the swords on this video, not swords in general)

  • Are they using ...

    Are they using construction steel???
My firsts knives were made of this kind of steel, it almost makes quenching useless.Anyway, they grind the blade too fast.Too many sparks, too heat for that blade : it could lose its quenching properties.

That swords are only made for decorative purposes.

  • BurtonKelly, its ...

BurtonKelly, its best to start off small and move your way up. So I suggest to start with knives, then to daggers, to short swords, then finally full sized swords. I also suggest to read a few books on it regarding to the way you wish to make one. (Stock removal or forgeing)

  • Many people seems ...

Many people seems to think that 440c is crap, however, if properly heat treated, it makes superior blades. It is not neccesarily brittle..

Also however, this person clearly doesnt heat treat it properly. You need digitally controled vacuum purged furnaces to HT it. So in this case, yea it is. "Blood groove" is also correctly refered to as fullers due to the way they was made.
