  • It was actually ...

It was actually Amedeo's voice that got me into Blonde Redhead in the first place, but at the same time I do acknowledge the fact that it is somehow an aquired taste. Anyway, without Amedeo's voice, their sound would suffer immensely in my opinion.

    Amedeo is gorgeous singing!
    Kazu is lovely singing!
    And It´s just my opinion!

Blonde Redhead really makes me happy!
And it doesn't matter the tecnic, or something like that.
Who really matters is the fact i can feel what they are trying to do, what they're trying to say!

    And that's all!
    For me unless!

I couldn't give a S**t who sings better. I never heard of this band until somebody sweet put this on a compilation. I listened to it over and over agian on my ipod and was totally taken in by the song, and still am. It's fckn spooky and a simpley well executed song. Rebelious as you like and free as you want, I now walk through walls too.

  • I think he ( ...

I think he (assuming the person is male) mentioned both of the singers in general, not just in this song in particular, that's how i get it.

For the record, he said he wasn't a big fan of them. But he obviously likes the instrumentation. There are many bands who have an interesting instrumental sound, but the vocals are a make-it-or-break-it point. A lot of those you already cited, e.g. Joy Division and Radiohead.

  • Counter-newsflash: ...

Counter-newsflash: vocals and instrumentation are different parts of the music that can be viewed separately, if you so wish.

  • Another point: if ...

Another point: if we were following your logic and assume the vocals are more important than instrumentation in the sound, then amedeo is only halfway responsible for the BR sound. Kazu also sings. Secondly, may I advise you not to present your opinions as if they were facts?

  • I still disagree. ...

I still disagree. It's ok to think that Dylan can write good songs but does not sing them well. If another singer would make a good cover of his song, then those who dislike Dylan's voice may better appreciate his songcraft. There's a version of "Messenger" where Amedeo's voice is swapped for David Sylvian's and he does a damn fine job! It sounds even better with a superior vocal talent. A song is a song, with its music (chords, melody, beat) and its lyrics. Voice belongs to an interpreter.

  • I've got to defend ...

I've got to defend athre86, since it's perfectly understandable why (s)he'd separate the music (or rather, the instrumentation) from vocals. this user doesn't deserve minus points just for not being pleased with the voices. In fact, I must admit that Amedeo actually is iffy as a vocalist. Never liked this wimpy sort of vocalizing. I can't see what's so awesome about the way he sings. Kazu on the other hand can sing well.

  • Not to mention that ...

Not to mention that MiaB is a sort of concept piece involving Kazu's accident in which she fell off a horse. See lyrics to Equus. So Falling Man sounds quite fitting.

I don't think so. The lyrics would make little sense if they were about that. What does love and self-doubt have to do with jumping out of a window to escape burning jet fuel?
