The NZ Maori Rugby Team featured in the video actually won the Pacific Nations Cup in a thrilling final against Australia A. This shows they can in fact play very well. A try to Hurricanes loose forward Thomas Waldrom two minutes from time snatched a last gasp victory for NZ Maori, 21 18, over Australia A.

The team performing is inspired to play their best, the team observing is inspired to do the same - this is why it is great for a team to face the haka and draw from it the inspiration to play at their peak. The purpose is not to cause one to defecate. Perhaps you've missed the whole point and purpose of the event.
