A pathetically un-funny rant against hi-tech job outsourcing from the US to low cost countries like India. The Communication Workers of America and Jason Alexander should have outsourced this film to Bombay! After all Bollywood produces more films every year than that town in LA ..whatchamacallit?

  • As I said before, I ...

As I said before, I don't feel entitled to anything. I don't feel it is our responsibility to be the main financial contributors to another country. Especially in cases where the people of the country look at us with disgust and would like nothing better than to see the US fall.

  • I don't have a ...

I don't have a problem with certain types of jobs going overseas. The issue I have is the massive numbers of jobs that are being lost so quickly with no plans to retrain or relocate displaced workers, some who have put in 30+ years with those companies and don't have the resources to relocate or go back to school again. I also have issues with the fact that in several cases, offshore employees have threatened to sell personal medical and financial records of unsuspecting persons in the US.

  • people are ...

people are responsible for their own choices and that is a good thing .Those studies are simply data used to make choices and not a guarantee of the future. If you are good at a job that is in demand you will have plenty of opportunity. Life is really good now in
America and i just don't see how some people don't recognize it. Your loss.

  • Jobs are lost and ...

Jobs are lost and created all of the time. This is a natural process and it is what sparks creativity and innovation. The deficit as a percentage of the GDP is actually decreasing. Our ancestors built a country that did not have social security system or the large set of entitlement programs that we no unfortunately have.

The car manufacturing question you posed could be answered with a complicated explanation that i am not sure you care to get into. Basically though the US car manufactures have been operating on outdated strategies and have become much less competitive and are losing big money because of it.

  • With those jobs go ...

With those jobs go the taxes that the American employees paid, increasing the deficit and decreasing funding for education programs, social security, and all other programs meant to help the people of our country that our ancestors worked hard to build.

  • In the meantime, ...

In the meantime, our trade deficit with other countries has skyrocketed and is expected to increase by 100% by 2010. In my opinion, 100% increase in trade deficit + lack of taxes being paid by displaced American workers = bad things to come for our country.

  • Why is it that " ...

Why is it that "American" cars that are manufactured in Mexico cost just as much as foreign cars that have to be imported to the US? When is the last time the price of anything come down once the mfg/service started being outsourced? The only people benefitting from this are the CEOs.

  • Yet, companies are ...

Yet, companies are offshoring medical transcription and the quality of the documents coming back has for the most part been atrocious. If those errors aren't caught by the staff here in the US, how many people do you think will die because someone in another country typed the wrong drug name? Is that worth the "savings" that we, by the way, have yet to see?

  • People invested in ...

People invested in those skills based on reports by the government that those were the job areas to go into because they would be secure. No one has "job security" anywhere and I don't feel any sense of entitlement to my job. I do, however, feel that being good at what I do should provide some job security.
