You don't even know there isn't alphabet in Chinese language! What's the point to carry on the conversation with you? As for Sanskrit, I admire your language, only that I am surprised you are not humble.

You mean names like these - HU Jintao, XI Jinping, WEN Jiabao, LI Keqiang, HUI Liangyu, ZHANG Dejiang, WANG Qishan, LIU Yandong etc. I must ask, what is the difficulty. I suggest you first, figure out your internal conflict about racism, then try to write and read a few chinese names(see if they are easy ), THEN come back to the conversation.

Dear VedicResurrection, whoever makes fun of someone (Indians, chinese or whatsoever) because he or she is from ANOTHER race, that shows that person is impolite, lack of respect and badly educated. No one should laugh at anyone because of its color. So if the Americans make fun of you because you are Indian, it's totally their problem. As for the names, once again, it is for practicality. Chinese is not a language easy to pronounce and to write.

I do have south indian frens with multi-syllable names who simplify it to about 2 syllables (often anglo sounding). thai people do the same thing because thai names are really hard to pronounce.

I think it is very considerate of them to save others the embarressment of not getting their names right.

I've noticed at my work that Chinese people don't respond to my attempts to call their names. They don't recognise it as their name! The pronunciation is very difficult because each syllable can have a variety of 7 intonations. So, to to be friendly, they give you their English name.
