P226 vs. Baseball bat
Holy hell, dude, I was joking about beating rifles. Sheesh. But one of my Baers can shoot about 3 MOA at 100 yards. Anyway, I understand where you're coming from, but I've seen all three types of pistols in combat, and Glock and Sig pistols just aren't that great. They're accurate, sure, but not much else. A well built 1911 is every damn bit as reliable, but ten times as accurate. That's all I'm saying.
By GunsAnd90sRock [Affiliate User] 1199610479 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat is, supporting evidence.Honestly, to me it's a simple measure of tolerances with 1911s. Once you start hard-fitting parts, closing in the gaps, you start to lose reliability but gain accuracy. The one exception is the TRP by Springfield Armory, however there is noticable slide rattle in that line. Anyways. Both are good pistols, I just find the 1911s to be a bit out dated.
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199577240 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveQuite honestly, there is only one other brand that I would past SiG in terms of reliability, and that's Glock. While I will not argue accuracy, well built 1911s will consistently beat stock SiGs, I will ask you to -prove- your point.
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199577228 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNow, that's under ideal circumstances. Don't forget about bullet drop (5.56 NATO vs .45 ACP), sight radius, and the on slaught of variables that would put the 1911 back of a rifle. Remember, it's a pistol. It's a back up gun. As the old saying goes, you fight from your fists to your knife, from your knife to your pistol, and then from your pistol to your rifle. And on the note of reliability?
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199577211 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSlight? Most rifles, if we're talking American built and not AK knock offs, are around the 2-3 MOA range. Once you get into fairly high grade M4s (Stag, LMT, Panther, etc.) that drops dramatically. Anyways, Wilson Combat's best gurantee on their high grade, match 1911s is 1" @ 25 yards. That's 4" @ 100 yards, or about 4~" MOA.
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199577199 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen properly built, the 1911 kicks the Sig Sauer's ass. Typically a $600 production 1911 is going to be S**t , sure, but when you take a Baer, Wilson or Brown 1911, or one built for the USMC, you'll have a gun that's more reliable than a Sig that shoots better than most rifles out to 200 yards (slight exageration).
By GunsAnd90sRock [Affiliate User] 1199558141 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhere did you hear that? .50AE ammunition is just under a dollar per round. It is still damn expensive as far as ammunition goes, but it won't bankrupt you if you've got some spending cash.
By sovietspyguy [Affiliate User] 1199555405 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo, there isn't a 9mm DE. It comes in .50 AE, .44, and .357. .50 costs $6 per bullet, .44 costs $4 per bullet, and .357 cost $2 per bullet. You'll probably fire 100 rounds per range trip, so that comes out to between $200 and $600 for ONE DAY. A gun in .45 ACP can do all that a .50 can do AND MORE, and costs $0.15 per round. Parts are expensive as hell, and magazines are $80 EACH.
The "9mm DE" is the IMI Baby Eagle, and it's a plastic, unreliable piece of S**t .
If an 'off the shelf' firearm is good enough for two of the best and prolific special forces units in the world, honestly, your claim of the best pistol in the world has some serious competition.
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199201710 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAhm, no. Not nearly as reliable. You want all that in a 1911 platform? You might want to consider those options before bleeding out your pocket book. The SiG Sauer P226 is used by the Navy SEALs and the SiG Sauer P229 is used by the British SAS. Yes, the Delta Force does give a stipend for a 1911, but we're talking stock firearms here.
By oSpartano [Affiliate User] 1199201696 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJimmy- Then you truly do want a Desert Eagle. Just, please, do me a favor: don't try to use it for home defense, etc. Get a .45 for that.
I have to admit.... the DE is a FUN shooter.... enjoy it.
also.... you dont need to get a .50 cal desert eagle... there is also .44 and even a 9mm desert eagle. so dont start saying S**t about its expensive.
By jimmychochang [Affiliate User] 1199171368 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGunsAnd90sRock- i dont really care how expensive ammo is.. in my opinion its well worth it.
By jimmychochang [Affiliate User] 1199171229 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou can get them in .45 ACP too (the best caliber available, IMO) but that one is called the Sig P220.
By GunsAnd90sRock [Affiliate User] 1199124311 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe .50 AE rounds it fires cost $4-$6 EACH. Still want that POS Desert Eagle? Seriously, do yourself a favor and get a Sig P220 or a 1911. All the stopping power you need, all the accuracy, range and reliability you could ever dream of.
By GunsAnd90sRock [Affiliate User] 1199124225 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe M1911-A1, best handgun in the world for 97 years and counting, choice of the top professionals worldwide (and myself), more powerful, more accurate and every bit as reliable (when properly built) than the Sig P226 seen here, is made in America.

By ZPQTube [Affiliate User] 1198487134 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree the desert eagle is an extremelly powerfull gun (for a pistol) i recommend it when i get my pistol permit i want to buy one.
By twistedman25 [Affiliate User] 1197477924 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeok.. im not in the military.. i dont realy need to kill anything... so i guess i dont really need a practical gun... i just want a powerful toy
By jimmychochang [Affiliate User] 1197415035 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThen you don't know anything about guns. The desert eagle is a glorified toy. It has no practical application. It is too big to carry concealed, unreasonable for military use, the list goes on and on.
It might be big and neat, but it is an ugly looking toy. Nothing more.
id rather have a desert eagle
By jimmychochang [Affiliate User] 1197254248 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy can't America make the kick ass weapons???
Unless it was military secret.
I thought it was the Italians?
