The Rig Veda is the oldest book in Sanskrit. Many great scholars who have understood the astronomical references in the hymns, date the Rig Veda as before 4000 B.C., perhaps as early as 12,000 B.C. Western scholars date it around 1500 B.C. I do agree that sometimes the facts are distorted. However, the vedas is much older that what we are lead to believe. You must appreciate that some historians distort the facts to justify their opinions or their beliefs.

I am afraid you are mistaken. While the Vedas may have been transmitted orally for millenia before they were set down in Sanskrit, it is archaeological fact that they were written approximately 1500 BC. You've just been owned because you don't know the subject.

If I am not mistaken the Rig vedas was written about 5000BC. Therefore it is the oldest text much longer that the Egyptian texts. You do not have to take my word a little research can verify this claim.

The Vedas are not the oldest spirtual texts known, the Pyramid Texts date to about 3000 BC; the Vedas were actually written about 1500 years later.
