Angyal Gyula: Virágos Mező (Flowered Field) translated

Hungary is our field.
Mine and Yours.
We live, like grass and flowers
On this country-wide field.

May be an everlasting springfeast!
This is what I wish to my people!
Lets live in cheerful blossom,
Not in calamity, in bleakness!

On the green grass-sea can rock
All of the colourful, good wildflower,
And let the sun shine on the field
From all of their souls!

When an evil storm attacks us,
Our country ferociously,
Lets throw our fears away,
Lets stand together and converge!

Cause we all are the children
Of this land! Lets live in peace,
To make our common field blossom
After 1000 years!

I wrote to You wtih pure heart.
It contains no lies and kitches.
Hail the minorities!
But hail the majority as well!

A Dunavidék TV felvétele a 2009.március 14-i Kisebbségek Napjáról Szigetszentmiklóson. Köszönet nekik a videóért!

Its the shot of the Dunavidék TV on the Minorities Day, 14 of March, 2009 in Szigetszentmiklos. Thanks to them for the video! I, as belonging to the Hungarian majority was asked by Lakatos Mihály, president of the local gypsy minority selfgovernment, for writing and performing a poem that belongs to the event. After performing the Flowered Field poem, several gypsies came to me saying thanks and shaking hands. The peaceful living with gypsies together means problems in whole Europe, and its NOT JUST THE FAILURE OF THE MAJORITY. There are 13 majorities in Hungary, but we dont have any problem with Bulgarians, Germans, Greeks etc, only with 2 minorities. The majority has rights as well.

Introduction text: Welcome! I am Angyal Gyula, szigetszentmiklosian one, member of the Hungarian majority, poet. The now following poem, titled Flowered Field, was made by the asking of Mr. Lakatos. Both Mr. Lakatos and I think, that in Hungary the majority and the minorities must live in peace, in converging and everyone, every minorities need to work on. There are 13 minorities in Hungary, two of them show tenseness in the news. But I feel, that everyone must converge, and this shall not be an empty speech! In this atmosphere was my poem Virágos Mező born. Poem to the minorities of Hungary.
