Sad story but I still support the US serviceman who did his duty and fought where he was told to fight as I was one of them.

You are almost 100% correct hockeypuke. The reason the US was in there was because France wanted to retain Vietnam as its colony. So when they were defeated in VN, and as a condition to supporting NATO (which they didn't join anyway),they demanded the US maintain that colony and keep it controlled. BTW, after WWII Ho Chi Minh asked the US to help it win independence from France but the US was tied too much to the French.

If push comes to shove,anyone with any decency fights for what they believe in,and if you dont,well,you join the army to protect what you hold dear,and you should have total respect for the boys who died,not ridicule them,not nice or patriotic

Just a note, if you didn't fight when drafted, you were shot, or tossed in jail. Now you may be a better person then me, but givin the chioce between rotting, gaurenteed death, or probible death, I'll take any chance I get. Just a thought. It's easy to say you wouldn't fight now that past is past, but what would you do if faced with that choice? I'm just sayin...

My respect goes out to all who fought in vietnam a war that didn't need to happen, they died for no good cause, America lost and north vietnam took south. What a wast of life and no remorse. War is evil.

first of all the war wasnt fake but the reason we went to war was bullshit and even though we did not finish off the the commies in vietnam we had more kills. id say more people are uneducated then brainwashed and thats because of partisan media thanx

You are right about Australia not getting the recognition it deserves. Australia has always been there for America. Always the first to jump on board and your country and your people are amazing. If I had to leave America....I would live in Australia. The Aussies went through Hell in WWII, Vietnam, and have been with us in many other conflicts to protect the Innocent and defend Democracy.

please remember australias TOOK part in vietnam we were their everyone seems to forget so easy the past while some of us dont

ok let me tell you personaly....you discust me if you think that america should be proud of this..we were not drug into this war and were not evon apart of it to begin with...we drug ourselves in there..(well the president) and we could have been also takin out but the president did not want to for his reputation...he wanted to win one of the biggest wars wile he was in office..and the truth is it was never declared war...and we had no reason to fight
