The "he", who in accordance to your words got "sacked" for having taken the decision to land was a "she" and, neither "she", the first officer at the controls during this aborted landing or "he", the pilot, who took over for the second attempt, got sacked, as they handled the situation of extreme wind shear perfectly. Maybe you want to "Google" wind shear, as you may find out that this is rarely foreseeable.
