Skilled Pilot Does Crazy Landing!

  • you drive a train ...

you drive a train man you dont know a thing about flying because you think that "driving" a train is skill. And by the way computers help flying yes, but pilots will always be a asset to this industry. Computers cant make certain judgement calls when lives are at stake. When something goes wrong on a car, you have to option to stop whenever you want. You cant do that in a airplane.Flying is 100% skill.I would like to see you land an airplane in rural conditions when 200 lives are at stake.

  • wow i didnt knew ...

wow i didnt knew that pilot wasnt a real job, we carry lives in our hands and a computer doesnt know what to do when an emergency start, should a computer know what to do when a women had a heart attack, no it will just simply wait 3 hours and land at the scheduled destination

  • I laugh listening ...

I laugh listening to the ramble of supposedly skilled pilots!! What good is all that skill when the airlines are preparing to get rid of a good number of you, that's if you are not working for a company about to be bankrupt, and guess what....the aeronautics field is already looking at computers to replace you!! Freight and commuter/long distance passenger train will not be computerized anytime soon. So much for skill!! And hey, when you're laid off, come work for the railroad!! Work a real job!

  • You nothing about ...

You nothing about the railroading to talk about "playing with trains". Managing a 150-car heavy manifest freight, with 3 underpowered locomotives, successfully over Sand Patch Grade (PA) or through a line like or Cajon Pass (CA), takes a hell of a lot more brains and skill to accomplish without a break a part or a runaway, compared to an ILS computer on most occassions landing the plane for you. And keep in mind....computers can already fly planes, and in due time, pilots will be useless.

  • MNRRConductor, im ...

MNRRConductor, im not trying to totally blast you for your ignorance, but he had at least a good 25 feet off those trees. Speaking for personal experience, thats plenty. AND most importantly, if you look at the approach, and learn at least a little about landing a jet, youll know that if he were any higher he would have overshot the landing. Not to mention pilots are taught to scrape their bellies instead of nosing off the end of a runway. Read more, type less.

  • Hey ...

Hey MNRRConductor2006, are you a pilot? Do you know what kind of incredible skills are needed to land an aircraft like that in those conditions? I'm assuming the answer is NO. Show some respect.

This runway is only 5,600 feet long - which is barely sufficient for a Boeing 757. LGAs runways are both 7,000 feet long. And there isn't a downsloping terrain in front of any of LGAs approaches.

Research things before you speak, otherwise shut your mouth and stick to playing with your trains. Thanks.

  • Horrible!! No ...

Horrible!! No skills there, he was too low and came close to hitting the hill and trees. At LaGuardia Airport in Queens, NY, when planes use the expressway (Long Island Expressway) visual approach to Runway 31 at LGA, they have to make a similar style approach and plus they have tall building in Flushing, to the east of LGA and they make that bank turn from flying due east to a sharp turn to the west to make the 31 landing, and they never come that low and close to hitting anything.
