  • Difficulty is ...

Difficulty is relative to what you are familiar, I think. If you've got experience with other transverse flutes, you'll be able to transfer that over to bansuri. Each has its own nuance for which you practice practice practice. Give them both a try. Report back and let us know what you find.

  • How much difference ...

How much difference is this flute compared to the Shakuhatchi flute in difficulty to play? The bansuri seems to have a broader range then the oriental style flute.

Hello Marco. Sorry there's no sheet music for this improvisation. I'm thinking though to publish a set of transcribed improvisations at some point.

  • Hello sparrow. This ...

Hello sparrow. This flute has 7 holes (plus mouth hole). This is really a left-handed flute that I play right-handed. Thus, you see the seventh hole that would normally be angled in toward the body. So, in this case I don't use that hole. But, played left-handed it could be used either by a bigger handed player or by pressing against the knee. You can do a search on bansuri and find out more about how the 7-hole flute is used vs. the 6-hole.

What a wonderful story teller this musician is - when listening to this piece of music I felt myself carried over mountains where I looked down on mirror lakes and sparkling waters.
