Very interesting for such a low use of fuel, You could very easily modify your draft ring to fit a wok.. which is a great tool for cooking quickly with very little fuel. The chinese have been doing that for centuries..

Great idea. Can I suggest a modification that would make them more efficent. Since heat rises you are loosing a lot of heat out of the uncovers top. If you had a top cover that vented slightly you would trap more heat and have more reflected heat from the metal. The food would cook faster and use less fuel. IMHO.

Since you are keeping the drips away from the fire, is it possible to use the fat caught in the drip pans either for cooking or for later use as your accelerator in starting the next fire? Tallow may not be as combustible as wax as from the candle, but what's not eaten can burn.
