In 1999 she enrolled in the State Musical Academy , Sofia, where five years later she graduated as a Master in Jazz & Pop Singing, and a Bachelor in Music Theory, Composing and Conducting. In 2001 Dessy Dobreva became one of Bulgaria's favorite singers on the TV screen with 2 million people public attention every night. Dessy's debut in USA was on March 13 th , 2005, when she participated in her sister's Milena Dobreva fashion show, called Anelim. By Milena's request, Dessy composed the music for the show.

In December 2006 she graduated from Berklee College of Music , Boston, as a Bachelor in Voice Performance. During her two years at Berklee College of Music , Dessy received heaps of awards as a songwriter and a performer. The most outstanding are: Top song for December' 05 at Indie 104 iRADIO LA, two Honors from The Billboard World Song Contest, USA, and an Honor from The Great American Song Contest .

As a representative of the Bulgarian Cultural Center in the U.S. and throughout her career as a musician, Dessy has been actively promoting Bulgarian culture across Europe and USA. Through high-profiled concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall with the "Bulgarian Legend" Dance-show (2004), and at the Astoria Hall with Ku-Ku Band (2004), she has gathered much attention from the public and the media. Her songs are widely played at a number of radio stations throughout USA and Europe. Dessy also starred in a three-hour long show on Bulgarian National TV (BNT), which promoted the many achievements of modern Bulgarian Society. It was broadcast via satellite to more than fifty countries worldwide, including the USA and Canada.

Dessy currently resides in the US, where she tours regularly. She will soon return to the studio to work on her new album, which will be a fusion of pop/jazz/R&B and her Bulgarian roots.
