  • I would say that ...

I would say that freedom is expensive, but worth it. Perhaps South Africa, and many such places in the world, live with the violence and lawlessness that they have due to the lack of respect for peoples inalienable rights and lack of a functioning legal system, and this situation is only aggravated by inept governments taking away peoples freedoms.

  • The police force is ...

The police force is one thing but fighting a war we can't win (thats killing thousands of americans and MILLONS of middle easterners), giving up our rights to choose a health care provider, giving the government power to arrest people without notice or reason, access all your personal information without reason, tap phone lines, shut down the internet all those things are completely different.

  • fleam101, but what ...

fleam101, but what use are your freedoms if you cannot live in safety?

South Africa has the best constitution in the world in terms of civil liberties and human rights. It's also home to the worst R**e rate in the world and one of the top ten in murders.

I wonder if you'd say the same under these conditions
