Suspended steel filaments make three-dimensional magnetic fields visible. See http://amasci.com/electrom/statbotl.html

I came up with this one for the Electronics exhibit at Museum of Science, but it ended up as a build-it device for science teachers.

I also discovered that baby oil slowly pushes its way through glued plexiglas joints. If you build an 8" cube of thick plexiglas and fill it with baby oil, a few months later you notice that it's half empty! And the other half is soaked into all the books on the shelf below! AND IT'S A SHELF IN A COLLEAGUE'S OFFICE!!! :)

Make a "C-shaped" magnet with the fields very close together. All the field will be in the gap between the poles.

Low-viscosity oil, easy to shake up after iron has settled out. Flat plastic bottle for free!

Is it possibe to confine the magnetic fields on one spot? Maybe insulating them with rubber or other insulating materials? Is that possibe? Thanks. AL.

I wonder if you dragged that magnet through the dirt, wouldn't that give you some iron filings? I used to get Iron particles in my pan after looking for placer gold in Wyoming.

Manual focus only works at 50cm. For close shots I have to use macro with autofocus which cannot be disabled. Cheap $200 camera!

Great videos you have! Just one hint as a viewer: It would be better if u use manual focus on your camera. In some of your videos your camera can't decide between background and the object itself and it makes object blurry.

It's not fibers. You could try and see what happens though.
