Radio hams use air power to launch a wire antenna at their 2007 field day site.
I have made a simmular device, would you be interested in a way without using a foot pump or any kind of compressor. I also have plans...
By anthonytroop81 [Affiliate User] 1220308576 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt is a constant problem getting aerials over trees.
Do you have any plans of the device you could share ?regards

Awesome device you have there. I could sure use one of those here in the PNW with my 150 trees. I've tried bow and arrows, sling shots and slings to no effect over 40 feet. A couple arrows hanging in the trees now. ha! Thanks for a great idea. nz7b

The audio is in German but you will understand it anyway.

We built a slingshot using bungee cords, kite string, and a tennis ball to do the same thing. This would've been a bit easier though. :)
By cpdavngr [Affiliate User] 1203065149 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveVery cool.
By shawnhawkins [Affiliate User] 1202937846 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSorry, that should read not 160M dipole, but instead the large Cobra that HRO sells. It resonates on 160M and as long as you use their feedline length, you get reasonable Z for a tuner on all bands.
By whiteflluffyclouds [Affiliate User] 1202622632 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHere in the PNW we have 150ft or higher Douglas Firs. My strategy is to use a wrist rocket and 4lb test line with one of those round lead sinkers. I shoot it into the top of the tree, not over it. Then the sinker falls down near the trunk. I pull through progressively larger line until I am up to nylon cord. A 160M dipole is pulled back up the tree and the feedline and bottom secured. The most killer antenna I have ever used on low bands. It is fed with ladder line so its multiband.
By whiteflluffyclouds [Affiliate User] 1202622427 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI fill a 16 oz. plastic water bottle about halfway with water and attach a length of nylon parachute string below the cap. I find that you can get a really good arc when throwing the bottle from about 18 inches from the tie point attachment of the bottle. This baby will sail over the tree and has enough weight to come down through the branches with ease.

By ka5kla [Affiliate User] 1198667057 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHello
I wish i had the plans to build such a launcher.
That is by far the best & {coolest} way i have seen yet to launch a dipole rope..

By sac7000 [Affiliate User] 1195400186 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI'm going to build a slingshot version--but this is brilliant. Have you tried a spud gun version of this?

By K7AGE [Affiliate User] 1193467433 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis actually has a practical purpose, if it is explained what it is used for in combintion with a ham license as credential , law enforcement should recognize that it not intended for wreckless endangerment
By KC0TCH [Affiliate User] 1191862783 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeoh wow , that would be graet for field day.
By KC0TCH [Affiliate User] 1191862655 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTHANKS & 73's
By Billecbqrp [Affiliate User] 1182842953 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt is a csv19 pneumatic antenna launcher. Google it.
It came as a kit, took over a week to assemble because epoxy had to dry between steps.
A 10' surf pole & 2oz sinker is better & less of a shocker... Run around with this & get arrested...
How do I make one?
