  • I must correct ...

I must correct myself. The Eagles were not the Stone Ponys. The Stone Ponys were a trio that included Linda as the lead singer in the mid 60's.

  • The Stone Ponys/ ...

The Stone Ponys/Eagles were Linda's back up band for her 1972 tour and self titled album. After the tour with Linda suggesting they formed their own Band. Desparado came out on the Eagles second album "Desparado" in 1973, Linda also covered the song in 1973. I like Linda's version better mainly because I am a big fan of hers. Several years ago I was messing around with my new camera and took a picture of the poster I had of her. The poster did not survive, the picture has.

The Eagles did not do the original. They were not even a group until years later. The were Lindas backup band called the Stone Poneys.

  • I love anything ...

I love anything Linda does - her voice is so pure yet has a growling edge. Another great version of this song is 11 year old Sarah Bolger singing it in the movie "In America". In the context of the movie it is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time!

  • She DOES Sing it ...

She DOES Sing it better, because ANYONE who knows music, or isn't tone deaf, can hear the song and pitch were written better for a woman to sing more than a man.

It's a song, about a drug addict, and in my opinion it's a woman, telling him that he should let her love him.

Even the song writer enjoyed her version of the lyrics, better than his own. And no, he wasn't just saying that because he wanted in her pants because if I read correctly, he might've already been there.

Desperadoes, tis our season. We shall rule! When all the little cry babies say "oh no oh no this can't be happening" we shall come forward having been though all that and lead.

She did a beautiful job with this song but I like the original Eagles version best. But this is nice--a different feel than the original.

Linda R. before I die I want you to know that your voice got me through. Now if you could get together in voice with Steve Perry who is just hanging around on the west coast being quite useless.

More I could say but cat yacking and neighbours tapping.
