As an American taxpayer, EXACTLY where is the money coming from to pay for the Stimulus bill? When you have a credit card debt of $10K, you don't get another credit card debt of $10K and just hope the first credit card debt will go away. BUT, ALL the bozos in congress thinks that will happen. Spending money that America does NOT have will make everything better. AND, YES, Cheney/Rumsfeld Iraqi war is responsible for the mess we are in, but remember CONGRESS voted the spending on Iraq.

I didn't say anything like that. But since you brought it up, I do think money is better spent in the hands of the people who make it themselves. Imagine if everyone kept 100% of their income. Every individual is more likely to know what needs to be done with that money to better themselves, their families and most importantly their business if they have one. This is the only way to create value without tearing down what others have built.

on friday the federal budget office reported that once the stimulus was consumed the economy would be worse off than if nothing was done. the hard truth of a 70 percent consumption economy is that there is nothing left afterwards except the service on the debt to foreign creditors. why don't you go to the congressional budget office web site and read this article in economic predictions.

emmathird, Most new jobs created in the U.S. are from small businesses. People from the upper middle class start them, not the billionaires. So I think that's a major jump in logic going from working for a poor person to working someone who has a great idea and a little capitol. So again, the big businesses and mega-billionaires and closing shop and not hiring anyone, no rich person is going to save us. It's just us and all we have is each other (the government) to save us.

I don't see anyone crying about Welfare Checks. They're crying about jobs. And you should realize there is no shame in working for the government than opposed to private industry. Don't be proud, get work where you can get it, whether it is private or public. That's what Rachel and the Democrats are fighting for BECAUSE the companies have freezes are hiring. Tell him to hang in there! ;-)
