Rory gives a superb live performance of Hot Coals live on the Old Grey Whistle Test.
Unfortunately, this is a slightly edited version, but what the hell?

  • i love how he can ...

i love how he can play lead rythm harmonica and sing, for the most part (allthough mark feldham came in later on the harp) and most bands today need 2 guitarists, one for each, having it sound way thinner. if there is a guitar that deserves to be in a museum, your looking at it.

  • So glad that people ...

So glad that people are appreciating Rory. So sad that he never got the kind of recognition he deserved, while he was alive. On the other hand, he was very deliberate in deciding how his music would be marketed. If the Web had existed when he was in his prime, he would have been God. This is true.

I keep on reading different 100 greatest guitarists - and it's an absolute TRAVESTY that this man's name isn't on them - he's got to be top one, then to my mind, Franz Zappa and Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • I stumbled on here ...

I stumbled on here by accident. I have never heard this man and his music before and I am blown away. This makes me want to kill every American radio programer who denied me this genius all my life until my 30s. I was robbed. This is not a put on.

  • Great footage. ...

Great footage. Never tire of watching it. Guitar and voice, honest and true.
Saw him three times live, one in The Everyman Palace in our hometown, Cork. His ol' stomping ground! Power went out, he mandolined on! Not a sound from the audience, crystal clear for us all to hear. Special times.

Is there a source for his whole OGWT set?
Now my kids are discovering him!
