It's interesting to see the argument against worshipping Carl. Of course, he would not have tolerated such toadying, but I consider him a worthy and still timely replacement for the gods of old, Jesus included. I also like to believe that before the scripture editors got their hands on the Bible that Jesus enjoyed an incandescent marriage as Carl did. Great men often have great women side by side with them.

It is far from pathetic to "worship" (as you so put it) a decent, logical, rational and outspoken human being. Maybe so many do admire him, because there are so few on this Earth as we know it, and he brings the ones that do exist, together. I knew very little of Carl, yet through reading just one of his books not so long, I was awestruck and changed forever.

Wow. She's probably old enough to be my mom, but wow. I have impure thoughts about Ann. And that's meant as high tribute! Who knew that eloquent speaking could be so hot?

Recently coming to the skeptical point of view, I have to say Carl touched so many lives for the betterment of humanity. I can only wish I could have met him at least once in my life. But, it is never too late to embrace his impact. He and others like him have shown us the beauty and awe of the natural world and cosmos. One need not require a superstition to have that experience. I will make sure my children know all about Carl and his contribution to making life better for all of us.
