pre was the first person to be symbolized by the nike sign starting out in eugene oregon. When he did this move nike was unpopular and hardly known anywhere outside eugene oregon. but as you can tell by today, he successful endorsed the nike symbol and product to be one of the wealthiest company's to this day.

  • You seem like a ...

You seem like a nice person, so please let me say this: Please don't make damaging statements that you know aren't true. Speculation in the negative is wrong. Viren was never tested positive, so please don't say it was so. Did you know that many athletes from the US went to Europe to learn their training "secrets"? But they didn't test positive. The US athletes must be held to the same standard that you are holding foreign athletes to. All are guilty, or all are clean. You decide.

  • I am very close to ...

I am very close to the sport, closer than most will get to be. Two Olympic teams, 13 US titles, one road WR, and a silver medal in the 10000m at World Cup, Australia. I know most of the athletes from every country that have medaled. Here is what I can tell you: If it was legal, and it could be done, then I ASSURE you that athletes in the US, even our favorite runner, was doing it, too. Along with that, Viren was never proven to have doped. Did he do it? Did Prefontaine?

That is a COMPLETE LIE. This is how rumors get started. Again, HERSAY. Yes, Maanika WAS verified as doing Viren WAS NEVER PROVEN. NEVER.

lol dude he wasnt happy with fourth place. probably one of his most dissapointing days ever...but he cared MORE about how he won.

i live in egene oregon. the place where pre ran in college, the place pre died. i go to pres rock every once in a wh to leave somethin there. my dad met prefontaine and was fully aware of what was going on in the olympics. Viren and his entire team were all tested after the rest and found positived for enhancing there blood.

  • Well, good. ...

Well, good. Hopefully he was happy with his
4th place, if that was more important to him. I would rather have the medal. Viren, Gammoudi and Stewart went there to get medals. I hope they have what they wanted. Somehow, I think they are fine with it. :)
I will ask you, as many have been asked on this topic. Show the evidence of blood doping in regards to Viren. Not hersay, not "I heard". Not, "other athletes did it." Evidence.

  • ACTUALLY thats ...

ACTUALLY thats right in some cases. but obviously some people with talent can destroy the most tacticful(is that a word) and experienced person and vis versa. and also cheaters can beat the true winers.(viren and team of blood doprs)

never the less viren had skill and also was a smarter runner then pre by far. Pre would front run no matter what. he cared more about how he won a race then actually winning

  • That goes to show ...

That goes to show that potential and talent isn't as valuable as experience and tactics when it comes to winning an Olympic medal now, doesn't it?

  • LOL. that exactly ...

LOL. that exactly shows my point. Pre kicked to soon, so the 2-3 seconds were made in the last 100m...viren won off of pre's mistake. pre had millions times more potential and talent then viren ever could dream of having.

  • Well, keep in mind ...

Well, keep in mind that the 2-3 second gap was made in the final 100m or so... that is significant. I would like you to show me what Olympics Viren was in prior to 1976.
