Discussion of the requirement for a reservoir that provides fluid/gas seperation funtion. My setup wont work right without it.

Another advantage of using a reservoir like this is that it recycles the Potassium Hydroxide that I use as my electrolyte. KOH vapors created during the process of electrolysis, are return to the working fluid by this design. This keeps KOH out of engine and dramatically reduces the requirement to add KOH.

Experiment safely - Just build it!

  • I built a 20 plate ...

I built a 20 plate ,4 stack wet cell ...3 neutrals in each stack , I had to solder wiring to my neutral plates. Here's a tip...you can easily solder stainless as well as many other metals by using a great and very reasonable product called STAY-BRITE low temp silver solder. You can find it on e-bay. can easly solder a copper wire to stainless plate( any grade) with an ordinary solder gun ,in seconds, also very strong. seals the copper from the electrolite. Handy stuff to keep on the bench !

This idea will also work to bring a cell up to operating temp quicker and by using a thermo to drop the relay coil and uncouple the plates when the temp rises to a desired level.

Nice job on the videos. I have an idea that will work well on a dry cell. you can use a relay and a vacuum switch to instantly double your gas production, during acceleration. connect a wire to your 1st & 2nd neutral plates in each of your stacks and run each pair to contacts of a multi contact relay. I have a vacuum switch that opens when the vacuum drops so i'm using it to drop the relay coil. the relay instantly couples the the 2 neutral plates changing you cell config and amp draw.

yeah I will take any compliments I can get. At my age, they are a pretty rare commodity.

The apparatus I am showing is a knock off of the Tero Ranta design first publised a couple years ago so is nothing new. Since I showed this one, I have been pleased to see a number of others take up the design and make improvments. There are many doing this design much better than I did.

It is easy to put together, is easy to scale up/down and produces quite well.

Sounds to me like you are fishing for more compliments. Your whole apparatus is very well built and you know it.
I have just watched every one of your videos. And I must say. They all are the thickness of a human hair away from professional.
Well done SSC. Very well done.
When I get done with my 2 stage osculating energy multiplier. I will drag out my old HHO cell and try again.

not sure I understand the question. by tempered, do you mean tempered steel? I have tried steels other than high grade stainless and they deteriorated quickly in the reaction but I dont think I ever tried tempered steel specifically.

not this one, no ... what I have here is a modular system that lets me test a lot of possible ways to get the job done in a lab environment ... however, the setup I propose could be adapted for automotive use if desired ...

the key is the way its mounted. the reservoir has to be higher than the electrolyzer to use gravity/convection flow. a small pump would provide more flexibility in mounting locations.

Key elements I want to propose are those related to safe operation of system ...

    OKay, thanks for the answer.
If anybody else has already testes it,please post over here or send me private email.
I am really interested to see, what efficiency this can bring, if it is simular to a fuel cell converting HHO gas to electricity.
If the efficiency is at least 50 % than this would be much cheaper than fuel cells !
    This is very important !

thank you for your inquiry and I appreciate your reminder ... this is indeed on my list of things to do, but have not expanded on my investigation of that particular phenomena as yet ... have been a bit distracted with my off camera high voltage experiments and have not even had my ugly brute setup and running in the past couple weeks ... it will happen and will happen very soon ... if for no other reason than I peronally am quite interested in trying to figure out what's goning on ...

  • Hi SmartScarecrow, ...

    Hi SmartScarecrow,
    have you tried again,
how much current you can draw from
the flame from your torch versus a metal
    plate ?
Can you rise up the current, if you stick a magnet near it ? What is the highest voltage and current you can get ?
    Many thanks.
    Regards, Stefan.
