I'm familiar with the Golden Eagle kits. They're OK but I feel friction drive is better. Friction drive is very smooth with very little vibration as long as your not using an aggresive knobby tire. You need to use a street style or hybrid tread rear tire. Cruiser tires work really well. The downside of a friction drive kit with a steel drive roller is that it will slip if you ride in the rain. It is really intended for dry paved roads, but also works well on dry dirt or gravel roads or trails.

The drive roller is made of hardened steel so it lasts quite a while, probably 3000-5000 miles. I have some with 2000 miles on them and their still fine.
