Spectacular head-on collision between 2 giant locomotives traveling at 90 miles an hour. This was one of the events at the 1913 California State Fair, and is from an old silent newsreel.

    I don't know the specifics of this exact clip. But this is a staged accident at a state fair ("State Fair Special" in fresh paint on the tenders). Crashing old steam locos was the early 20th Century version of a monster truck rally. The crew definitely jumped off way ahead of the crash, but I would say the cameraman was in danger for sure.

    i dont think anyone died. you can see the conductor jump off his engine right before they colide so i would assume the other one would be smart enough to do the same and i really really doubt the camera man died because the film continues to roll after the accident
