Sorry, but if I may say so, his serves were quite pathetic. Watch the pros and learn from there. Much more effective.

But even then it was a bit high for a good serve..... and no offence, but those other serves were a bit too high, lack of spin, and thus kinda pathetic. Sorry about that, but if you want to see proper serves or learn any, the best thing is to watch the pros. Check out Ma Lin, Waldner, Schlager and Wang Liqin.

By beardieboy1 [Affiliate User] 1206360071 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTrue. But holding the palm flat and moving it behind the table wouldn't be a big adjustment. And if they copied everything else too, they could do worse!
When all else fails, read the rules - if they would just stop changing the darn service rules!
Maybe you're right, but there are people who would watch this video and copy exactly what he did. If so, they may be penalised in a game later in life for something they didn't know was wrong because they saw a 'professional' do it...
By d1i2r3t4 [Affiliate User] 1205511491 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe video is from 2004. You are correct about holding the ball in your open palm. Dunno about whether Mark had the ball behind the endline (which he should have), but I doubt he was paying much attention to that at the time, as he was busy explaining stuff.

By PheonixWing [Affiliate User] 1205434835 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHe is serving illegally. You are supposed to hold the ball flat in your hand, not with your hand cupped. Also, I'm kind of dubious as to whether his hand was always behind the end line when he threw the ball up.
Then again, how old is this video?
probably, but what's more important is that the ball comes back to where you want. anyway have you ever seen that a pro tabletennis player like ma lin missed up to 5 serves that came from his opponent? probably not because they know what to do with any kind of serves
