    It also depends on the hook punch itself. That is a hook thrown by a street fighter, an appropriate hook is very controlled and cannot be caught like that since the elbow is at 90* . Also hook punches usually are not an opening technique... then again I think the video shows folks how to defend from regular street fighters not more experienced martial artists... for that you may actually have to take Hapkido and learn every technique so you can defend from a more experienced fighter.

    It doesn't take a great boxer to tell you that what they are throwing is not a hook. First of all, the punch is not even being aimed at the opponent. The person receiving the punch could just stand there and the punch would sail harmlessly overhead. Secondly, the punch is more like a wild swing than a true hook. Last point, for a right-handed opponent (most of us humans are right handed) most of the hooks would come from the left hand. So, call the punch what it is, a wild swing.
