Description: Cessna 172N EI-ING Landing behind British Midland A320 on Runway 10 Dublin Airport with a Ryanair B737-800 holding - Returning from The Aran Islands on the West Coast of Ireland. The video starts on left base One Zero - Can you spot my traffic on final? !
claris2...are u sure that 11-29 isnt available to ANY aircraft at DUB.... i was workin there in the Stand Allocation Unit and Aer Arran aircraft used that RWY.... and they still use it now.
By And5i [Affiliate User] 1200067240 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removegreat video! I would love to fly in Ireland. I bet the scenery is far more beautiful than where I live in Oklahoma, USA. Not much scenery here from the air but flat farmland.

By claris2 [Affiliate User] 1198768142 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNice video man! Also, could someone explain to me how to interpret the PAPI lights?
never understood it
Well, how else are you to become an ATP pilot? I'm sure they went through the same thing...
By usmeagle91 [Affiliate User] 1198551200 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLol. Those airline transport pilots must be pissed waiting for your 70kias little cessna waiting to land.
Thats who they blame the delays on.../shrug
11-29 is no longer available to any aircraft at Dublin - as a flying club at the Airport, we pay an annual fee for landing and not per occasion
By claris2 [Affiliate User] 1198126197 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIs it really expensive to land on 10 or 28. Would it not have made more sense to land on 11?
By fintaneh [Affiliate User] 1198119655 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveA good landing is one you can walk away from, a great landing is one you can use the plane again!!!!!
By flyingmeathman [Affiliate User] 1197877874 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhy does everyone always argue because the pilots landing wasnt inch perfect? at the end of the day, it takes a lot of skill and training to be a pilot and the pilots here did a great job! the landed the plane.

By CZMQFRG [Affiliate User] 1197421595 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOh Well sorrrryyy CZMQFRG, look thats just what the pilots told me, ok
By mooo483 [Affiliate User] 1197394068 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCZMQFRG, The lights get trampled on all the time particularly the Centre Line lights. They are made out of a strong alloy with the Lens set just below the top of the fitting. This fitting is in turn mounted flush with the surface of the Runway. They can take a lot of abuse. They are inspected every 24 hours and changed as required. ATC control the brightness and the switching of lights over a sophisticated plc system with
numerous back ups.
That's not entirely true mooo483. There is no proof stating that it does or doesn't interfere with the systems. Emirates is one example of an airline that lets you use cell phones (presumably with certain variables)
It's the ILS systems they're worried about primarily. The VFR system only involves a tuned pair of eyes
Great video Aidan and Philip! Do you mind me asking, how do runway lights work? How are they placed so that they don't get trampled by tires? Thanks guys
By CZMQFRG [Affiliate User] 1197383477 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGuys settle down it's only a video clip. First of all, Dublin is a single Rwy operation at any one time with one of the busiest movements per hour in Europe. Never in all my time flying into Dublin have Atc been able to give me a big enough gap between the departed commercial carrier and the arriving jet to gently follow the papi's two red, two white, to the ground. They are excellent controllers and fit me in with the least disturbance to the big boy's.
By flyingmeathman [Affiliate User] 1197383004 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCon't.. No two approaches are the same and we pick our aiming point according to ATC and operational requirements. Some times nearly half way down the Rwy to facilitate commercial movement. Guys,! Papi's are path indicators to the touchdown zone, indicated by the lights either side of the centre line. The touch down zone runs from the numbers to beyond the papi's. There is no requirement to hit the numbers. Nice flying, keep the videos coming....AFC
By flyingmeathman [Affiliate User] 1197382848 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeur the man dog. maybe if u cut off that crap music we might be able to hear what ATC has to say. im puzzled as to how a 3 degree glide slope means its calibrated for a bigger jet. just cuz atc tells u to expidite to the taxi way doesnt mean u shouldnt be aimin for the numbers and usually they tell u where to turn on when u land. i think your makin an excuse for blowing off the papi considering that i was "just wrong" about your "perfect approach and landing" how bout them apples iceman?
By JonPurdue7 [Affiliate User] 1197360612 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think you are the asshole - This was a VFR flight plan not IFR with no IAA obligation to fly the PAPI's at all - And before you even come back on that one. The PAPI's are calibrated for a B737 & A32x NOT for a Cessna 172N & finally the controller asked us to vacate at E6 which demands a shorter roll than the normal E5 vacation, leaving us to increase out final decent speed in order to expedite from the runway. Have a nice day.
By claris2 [Affiliate User] 1197344338 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewell if u wanna be an asshole about it thats fine, but ure all white and 3 white 1 red til u pass over the numbers, which is not a good landing in itself...u should have the 3 degree glideslope way before u even get to the runway and flaring right before or at the numbers to land on them. so nice try tom cruise
