    er... It's not like it's a tear in a piece of fabric. Having a strip at each end would keep fabric from tearing more. Skin doesn't tear like fabric.

    I would think that after washing the wound, you would put one strip in the middle. Then you would put one strip in the middle of what's left on one side, and the other strip likewise for the other side.

    Just my $0.02 worth.

    ALWAYS clean a wound first by washing it with clean water and then clean the surrounding tissue with Povidone-Iodine (Betadine)or a alcohol-wipe.

    Then asses the wound: clean, small and superficial wound: apply a band-aid, a dirty cut: go to your Physician or ER. The ER-doc will decide if he's going to use steri-strips, stitches or glue to close the wound. He could also decide to keep it open. If the wound is dirty, he will also give a tetanus-shot.
