By Request, I show how to use the control sticks to fly a helicopter on Aerofly pro deluxe from ( http://www.hobby-lobby.com )
You would never jump in a real heli, and say, "Hey, I'll just figure it out!"
Flying an RC model HELI is about the same as trying to balance a BALL BEARING in SPACE!
You move it slightly, and you have to do EVERYTHING YOU CAN (moving all 7 CONTROLS AT ONCE) just to get it stopped, let alone trying to GET IT BACK to you!
Then, if the nose is pointing at you, 4 of those controls are REVERSED!
This is all hard learned with RC HELI Pilots and why there are so few of us around.
Its NERVE-WRACKING for most and why only 4% of the people, actually advance to simply HOVER, let alone move on to 3D (stunts).
CRASHING has to also be accepted as a very important part of the learning curve.
So learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche!

By 636roadrunner [Affiliate User] 1227990993 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWell, in real rc heli flying, you are always standing on the ground and have reference. If you had Aerofly, you would always have clouds etc in the backgrounds and be able to fly high.
But in reality, practice on the ground. Up there, wont help you.
True.
By NightFlyyer [Affiliate User] 1227974861 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDepends on what your already flying. I like the MCX for learning controls and next would be any thing like a blace cx2 or a Blazing star.. Then go to a Honeybee MK3 then to a Blue Ray.
And study my 9 tips. Good luck.
Thanks for your replies. I have been flying the Bell Ranger in MS 2002 flight simulator for years now and fancy myself a decent pilot but when I tried to fly the heli from tower view I had a hard time judging what i needed to do as there are no landmarks in the sky Lol.

By dre200182 [Affiliate User] 1227913921 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI have been flying small rc helicopters for a while and want to get something a bit bigger, but I don't know what models are hard and what is more intermediate. Do you have any suggestions?
By 636roadrunner [Affiliate User] 1227833784 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRC sims, have you standing on the ground flying the plane, as it is when you fly rc. Microsoft, always has you in the plane or behind it. That teaches controls, but no help when the plane is coming back at you and left is right as in RC. Reversed controls never happen in real planes and why it is so hard to teach real plane pilots to fly RC.
By NightFlyyer [Affiliate User] 1227812200 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThey all slide. Nothing is right at take off, till you reach eyelevel hover. Then only the very smallest movements of the sticks will work to make it hover. I will send my tips in a pm. Thanks and good luck.
