Frank Gambale Playing a Nice Sweeping Exercise.

When Gambale was formulating the odd and even notes on strings, he called it speed picking, then sweep picking.

The we you talk about are mostly people that had never heard of Gambale before and read some lesson done by some hack that started calling it economy picking.

To this day the man Gambale that formulated the odd even note formula hates it when players call it economy picking because it makes the technique sound easier than alternate picking which it's not.

ATTENTION everybody:

What Frank Gambale calls 'Sweeping', we call 'Economic Picking'. He usually picks every single note, unless he wants the sound of a hammer & pull.

I've played those sweeps in one of my vids too.

I have to agree! This is why i avoid them myself! Either do the damn thing right or give up! However for anybody who has seen a gambale instruct vid, his sweeping has little to do with what many of us refer to as sweeping. Its not the typical jason becker sweep used only for arpeggios. FRank's sweeping is more like sweep and then pick normally, then sweep again. Plus, he uses sweeping not only for arps but for everything. This is the way he picks. Again yes im too so pissed by the sloppines...

It' not about the speed, it's about how clean and even the notes match up with the tempo.

You can hear every single note Gambale is playing in the exercise. His up strokes and down strokes are all clean and even.

Clearly Gambale can play this exercise at a much faster tempo but, he is trying to teach in this video, not show off how fast he can sweep.

That's the problem with most sweeping videos on youtube, the players try to play too fast and are very sloppy.

hey is this the average tempo for sweeping cuz i can play really fast but get frustrated when i get messed up sometimes

He had a contact with the WB at the time. He may still have it? So, I guess the sticker was to show respect for the WB?
