To Tithe Or Not To Tithe?

Thank you because I met people who said that you didn't need to tithe.

We are not under law. Jesus Christ paid it all, for our justification is through Him alone, and not of our works, or what we do.

too many preachers keep asking for money, and want u to sell all your goods. and god will bless u, and u will be rich and powerful. monica is so right about the truth of god. lf preachers or the churches only be honest. the world maybe a lot better

The "law" in the New covenant was not the law of Moses but rather "One new commandment "Love the Lord YOur God and your neighbor as yourself!"
Jesus said that this one law was All the law and the prophets. Love is the motivating reason for all that believers do.

It so amazes me how countless well-meaning Christians legalistically pour out huge amounts of their limited resources to vainglorious prosperity ministries, the Word declares, they have their reward here and now.

It is amazing that people use Mal 3 to justify tithing to a church. But they fail to realize that the Church was not yet established in Mal 3.

I have to agree that the institutional churches are no longer stewards in handling money and resources. Most will convince you that they are but miss the mark. In Deutoronomy tithing was in the form of food and produce and not money, which was used if the giver had to travel long distances and sold the food then bought food in Jerusalem and then gave to the storehouse. The tithe was not meant for money at all. Also levitical priests were the only ones to recieve it and now there is no temple.

We should keep the law because we love him not because we try to be justified through the Law, if you love me keep my comandments John 14:15. However i see that it is not possible to tithe because the temple is gone.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: - Jesus is still sitting over against the treasury - He is still watching "how" people give their money.
He could have asked you to live on ten percent and required you to give back the ninety.
All of it really belongs to Him anyway. How can we attempt to justify holding anything back from God?

There are enough people around in our lives like a friend at work who needs lunch money or a neighbor who needs money to pay an electric bill and so on...the needy are all around us.The church today is not fit anylonger to be held responsible for money handling.The catholic church alone has enough money too feed Africa but I dont see them doing it.They are rich and horde the money to themselves.Also we should want to help in our heart,You know that peacfull feeling you get when you help!

Simply put, God uses human agents in the spreading of the Gospel. Unfortunately, that costs money. The "cheerful giver", also unfortunately, is few and far between. Unless people believe they will get a quantifiable return on their "investment", they normally do not give. That is the sad truth of the matter, and there are a thousand excuses for their greed.
