Sometimes people misinterpret criticism and honesty as being "against" something. It's not, when done right. You can criticize with the goal of making something better.

I don't really accept the simplistic demonizing of Hamas we've seen in the Western and Israeli media, but for the sake of argument let's assume it's actually true. Saying "they are more free in Israel than under Hamas" is then hardly a positive statement about Israel. I mean, arsenic is better for your health than plutonium, but that doesn't make it a tasty and healthful snack.
