By blakeblake321 [Affiliate User] 1221112420 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIn europe any other country will purchase F-35 JSF's?THX
By sisimoto [Affiliate User] 1220808481 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFurthermore, the United States will not export the F-22 so let's stop this, it's like crying over spilt milk, if the Defence minister somehow achieves to change the US' mind then, good on him we will think about that when it happens, which it probably never will. but at the moment, the most capable fighter we have on offer is the F-35, end of story.
Search "F-35 DAS system"
For all those questioning the capability of the F-35 please search "F-35 DAS system" in youtube, this will clear everything up. I once was not convinced about the F-35 purchase but after watching this I think you will think differently.
Another thing you are all forgetting is that Indonesia has a total of 4 sukhois, yes that's right 4 in total. Australia: 100 F-35, more advanced than Sukhoi.
Search "F-35 DAS system" it's one of the first videos that comes up.
The f-35 can carry double the payload of the british harrier, and still take off vertically! ITs an engineering marvel! it can take off and land in 1/3 the distance of any other planes the USAF, so, we should definetly continue production of 'em!
By DaFrogster13 [Affiliate User] 1216423710 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei dont think we should be buying the F-35's when you could buy more F-22's that are tried and true while the F-35 isnew and questionable. being another VTAL jet i think it will turn out like the Harrier
By Falcon0523 [Affiliate User] 1215481728 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove24x 55million is roughly 1.32 billion if we are paying 6.6 billion for 24 superhornets then your figures are wrong or australia is getting ripped off big time. Obviously some of that cost will be ordanence and spares but there is a big gap in the supposed per unit cost and what is being paid.
By grim0033 [Affiliate User] 1213081781 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewell i dont know where you got those figures i hope it wasnt wikipedia! here is a link to airpower australia where comparisons are made between the F111 f18 and jsf out of the three the 18 has the smallest combat radius even when it has external fuel included and the jsf doesnt. Secondly a F18 nor a JSF is likely to come out on top against a sukhoi of which many of our neighbours are purchasing. I suggest you google a four corners documentary 'flying blind'. Ill mail you the links cant post here
By grim0033 [Affiliate User] 1213066163 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRaptor, Yes! But it's not for sale(yet)! I did a little homework and here is what I have found. Eurofighter-864nm & $122M. F-35A-120nm & $83M (at the moment). F-18 Superhornet-1275nm & $55M. Im certian your going to disagree so I look foward to your response.
By bujoun76 [Affiliate User] 1213053370 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWTF? superhornets dont have the adequate range either and they defintely cat compete with the sukhois that the indos are getting.
Google 4 corners flying blind. We need the raptor and/or EF
If range is the major issue than the F-35 can be supplemented by F-18 Superhornets!
By bujoun76 [Affiliate User] 1212964989 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIts not that people are attacking the 35 directly. But for australias needs it doesnt measure up. Its combat radius is to small, it has a small payload and is not a primary air to air platform, hence the name strike fighter. We cant yet get the 22 the next best bet would be the EF but without a tendering process we will never know that for sure.
By grim0033 [Affiliate User] 1212916839 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI bet if we look back, we can find the same arguments and complaints at the inceptions the F-4, F-15, and the F-16! For a while it was the F-22 that the critics hated and now it's the F-35! In 2040 it will be the Raptors' successor that will be under fire. It never ends. These are great planes but it will take time for some of us to see that!...
By bujoun76 [Affiliate User] 1212850828 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedont think so mate, firstly the f35 is nowhere near as stealthy as the 22, secondly there are many more ways to detect 'stealth' planes than just a radar signature, accoustic, ir, and electronic signatures all give the plane away. If the joint STRIKE fighter flys into enemy territory to hit indonesia all the sukhois have to do is find the tanker waiting to refuel them on the return trip and all the 35's end up in the ocean, out of the 22 EF F111 the 35 has the worst combat radius. Its no good.
