As the US presidential campaign enters its final weeks, both the Republican and Democratic candidates are hitting the swing states.

But misconceptions and rumours abound and many voters have their facts about the candidates all wrong. Some believe that Democrat Barack Obama is a Muslim, for instance.

Casey Kauffman talked to some Republican supporters after a rally by Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, in Ohio.

  • It looks to me that if you added up the

total IQ points of all the voters interviewed here, it still would not break into the triple digits. And it's pretty sad that the level of racism, hatred and ignorance is so high it draws the attention of Al Jazeera, for F**k sake, and this is then broadcast to the world. I wonder if that fans the flames of anti-American sentiment. The RepubliKan campaigners must really be proud of the kind of supporters they draw.

Why don't they just come out and say it"Obama is a n****r." They would have said it 40 years ago before the civil rights movement.

  • "History reveals ...

"History reveals that when the measure of a candidate meets America's standards, he or she will be elected -- regardless of outward appearance. Consider this: In 2000, black Republican J.C Watts earned 65% of the vote to be reelected to a fourth term as Congressman of Oklahoma's Fourth District, which is only 6.7% black.

If the true racists were silenced, Obama would have much more to worry about."
