Avoid school holiday time. Seems Thai flights go up even though it's the low season.
I have always used ebookers and expedia. Visited Bangkok in june for £475 return with Eva Air. Thats good for a direct flight. I did have to play around with flight dates tho. Most times i was getting around £630.
Avoid weekends. Flights go up.
It's usually cheaper to use stop over airlines. Best two are Emirates and Qater.
Anything around £500 is good.
Prices also go up after 10 dec for xmas.

Try a google search. Type in cheap flights t thailand and you should get plenty of options. If ya wanna go this year tho, avoid July or August time. We recently tried and they added airport taxes an alsorts on. it went to £1000 each. But they said try Sept Oct time. You find someone t go with yet? cos i remember you sayin ur mates kept pullin out
