yes to each their own. However real circus people will never acknowledge it as real,& I know severeal consultants to them that still will never do so. Not to mention serveral performers,& working men. You do need the acknowledgement of the old guard before you are validated in any industry.

Actually, a lot of artists are from traditional circus families. Such as the 5 Icarians in Varekai, the juggler in Varekai, and so on and so forth.
I'm not going to list more names, as you obviously don't know what you're talking about anyway.

A lot of them ARE ex-athletes, true.
But also, a lot of them do come from the traditional circusses, with animals and all that jazz.

I'm just glad they're now in Cirque

Well, being in them would tell you more than I know.
Each to their own, I guess. I call it a circus. As I said, it is not a traditional circus. From everything I've seen and read, it wasn't created to be a traditional circus.

I"m aware of alot of things about cirque du soleil that you will never know. this is not a knock against you it's just that I have been around almost every show known to man in usa or canada. they are very talented, but you can not take take cat fur & call it ice cream. they will never be a real circus without @ least a dog or pony. you can not change the foundation of a building. It is a great show no doubt, but they have no in house butchers. I would watch the show but I would not pay.

You are aware that Cirque du Soleil has only been around since 1984? It would be hard to be, as you say, from a true Cirque family.

Also, on "real circus is built on history of working horsemanship": Cirque du Soleil was created to be a different kind of circus, a new kind.

In the circus world if your not born into it your never totally accepted into the fold. Hence not real circus performers. This is one of the many unwritten rules of the road & life on the road. it's up to the iof style to determine what is or is not, not some upstart who thinks they can come in & redefine style then call it the same thing because it's not. Real circus is built on history of working horsemanship. These people are all stree performers or ex olympic but not many circus. that's why.

Since when do you have to have family in the circus to be a real performer? I'm pretty sure that isn't written in a big book of rules.
