Saw them at Victoria Hall, Stoke-on-Trent in 1990 (I think ti was th Bossa Nova tour?) and was completely blown away. Black Francis was making sarcky piss-taking comments about playing in the middle of nowhere!.
The best band EVER to come out of the U.S. IMO.

it was recorded on 1/5/88 at the Town and Country Club in London. Look for a DVD "Pixies 1987-1991" published in 2004 by 4AD - VAD 2407DVD (includes 15 songs + interviews + videos + a road movie. Great stuff.

Surfer Rosa is one of my favourite albums. I just much prefer Teenager Of The Year, Show Me Your Tears, Dog In The Sand, Pistolero...the list goes on. And what Pixies fan doesn't like Frank Black self-titled!?

I can't change anyones mind though, I suppose his old band will always be more famous, which is a shame after he's had so many fantastic albums since.
