We walked down many a small and lovely sidestreet looking for this famous landmark, using the Perillo Tours philosophy If you end up in water, you've walked too far. A delightful exploration.

*******ourvideosite****/View/V370 Venice, Italy travel: our Perillo Tours Familia Gondola ride. Our group assembling in the Hotel Europa and Regina, the nicest hotel we had on our Perillo tour of Italy. Of course, when in Venice, one must take a gondola ride. This was a bit expensive, but there was a complimentary bottle of wine, a powerful tenor belting out stereotypical favorites, and countless photo ops.

*******ourvideosite****/View/V368 Just a lovely five minute stroll down some of the beautiful maze that is Venice. Each of our Perillo Tours Familia undoubtedly had a different and unique experience, depending on one different turn of one particular street.
*******ourvideosite****/View/V367 A sample of the many, many beautiful works of glass art that were available for purchase. Several of our Perillo Tours Familia bought lovely items.
*******ourvideosite****/View/V365 A brilliant demonstration of the dying art of glass blowing. In this segment, George takes a clump of molten glass, adds colors, and turns it into a beautiful vase. It will take 24 hours for the vase to cool before it can be finished. Our Perillo Tours Familia sits in amazement.

Well, a boat ride to the Murano Glass factory provided spectacular views of the Doge's Palace and several other landmarks of Venice, all from a sitting position. Sitting made it better, after our walking tours of St. Mark's Square and surrounding areas!
*******ourvideosite****/View/V363 Our Perillo Tours Familia is guided thru the inside of the Doge's Palace in Venice. Perhaps the most spectacular room is the Grand Council chamber or Sala del Maggior Consiglio, originally the meeting place for the legislature. This huge space is lined, walls and ceiling, with paintings, particularly portraits of the Doges, but one of which, Tintoretto's vast Paradise, is reputedly the world's largest painting on canvas. - Wikipedia. This presentation is the best attempt possible at obtaining perspective of one of the largest indoor rooms in Europe, containing a painting that can't be described in words, in a space where they won't allow video. Arrgh! Video really should have been obtained crossing the infamous Bridge of Sighs from the inside.
*******ourvideosite****/View/V358 Venice, Italy arrival. We load ourselves and our carry-on luggage on to our water taxi, knowing that Perillo Tours will take care of our other bags. First impressions of Venice are off-the-scale impressive! But wait - we haven't seen the Hotel Europa and Regina yet! Perillo Tours choice of the Hotel Europa and Regina was a clear favorite in our group.
*******ourvideosite****/View/V357 A view of a stereotypical Italian hillside town began our brief walking tour of Verona, Italy, on our way to Venice from Milan. Our Perillo Tours Familia saw the fabled balcony of Romeo and Juliet. More interesting than the balcony is the countless love notes stuck on the walls all around the entrance way to the balcony. The Perillo Tours website says Shakespeare set 'Romeo and Juliet' in beautiful Verona. People can visit a tall ivy-laden balcony at 'Casa de Giulietta'. Although Juliet Capulet of Shakespeare's play did not live here, one can imagine her calling down to her Romeo from above. One can also visit Juliet's tomb and another home not too far away called 'Casa de Romeo', home of the Montecchi family, the models for Shakespeare's Montagues.
*******ourvideosite****/View/V355 Italy travel: Pompeii. Our Perillo Tours Familia arrives at one of the best preserved archaeological sites on the planet. So unique it even has a color: Pompeii Red is noticed at the start of our tour. It would have been great to record the explanation of our guide as the soundtrack to this segment. Fortunately, the visual record of our experiences in Pompeii stand on their own!
*******ourvideosite****/View/V354 Italy travel: On our way to Pisa! Florence Ponte Vecchio. We had more time later for exploration. This footage is our Perillo Tours Familia walk back to our hotel, and some footage from the bus. First, a river rower contemplating the minor waterfall of the Arno River. (Interestingly enough, Pisa also lies on the Arno River, despite the 90 minute drive between the two cities!) Then some hillside villages on the way to Pisa. We passed a true Roman water aqueduct, which would certainly have been worth a stop. We're on our way to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

The River Thames is best known because its lower reaches flow through central London, but also flows through Oxford, Reading, Windsor and others. More than a day trip from Thornbury Castle, and certainly worth the travel!

Our second slideshow of Pompeii. Again, it would have been great if the words of our Perillo Tours guide was the soundtrack, but enjoy the copyleft music by Macroform.
