*******www.tweaktown**** It's been a fairly busy day for the TweakTown Taipei team with a visit to GEIL and then we headed on over to MSI who were nearby. We were shown a few products during our meeting, but the one that stood out to us the most was their upcoming Z77A-GD80 motherboard. This board supports the upcoming Intel Ivy Bridge processors which if you have been reading TweakTown this past week, you know quite a bit about now. What's probably the most interesting feature of this motherboard is that it comes with a Thunderbolt connector. It's the first time we've seen a Z77 board with Thunderbolt onboard and that's pretty impressive. We have heard rumours around Taipei of more boards including Thunderbolt, but at this stage of the game, MSI is out in front in this department. The chip onboard to provide the Thunderbolt supported is made by Intel, we're not exactly sure what chip it is, but it's labeled with W138TA17, if that means anything to you. It doesn’t have any form of cooling (even passive), so we would assume that the chip doesn’t get that hot to warrant it. We really look forward to checking out Thunderbolt performance on this motherboard especially comparing it against the numbers we get from USB 3.0, SATA 3.0 and eSATA. Stay tuned for that in the weeks ahead!

*******www.tweaktown**** We have already seen a little of EPIC GEAR's Meduza HDST dual sensor gaming mouse here at TweakTown, but today when we visited GEIL's office here in Taipei, the parent company of EPIC GEAR, we were given a more detailed look at the Meduza, compared to the last time we checked it out on video. Ashley from GEIL (pictured above) gives us a good introduction to the Meduza and the reasoning behind the decision to include dual laser and optical sensors in the HDST mouse. Check out the video for a detailed hands-on with the Meduza or you can review our full review right here which as written by Chad.

*******www.tweaktown**** COMPUTEX Taipei 2010 - Yesterday we visited the folks over at Corsair at their suite at the Grand Hyatt and they were showing off a range of new products which improve on its usual suspects that we have came to known over the years. First up we got an introduction from Jim regarding Corsair’s brand new Airflow Pro which is a parametric display that is able to hook to the RAM by means of a simple link cable that is able to detect things like RAM temperature and usage. It is able to visually monitor up to six memory modules from the single meter, so all you folks out there run triple-channel memory setups are all set to go. Secondly Jim gave us a run-down on Corsair’s also brand new line-up of AX Professional Series Gold power supply units which as the name would suggest are 80 Plus Gold certified. They have all sorts of good stuff going on inside that are said to dramatically decrease the ripple effect and provide a very solid and stable system with its use of high-end parts that are usually reserved for server level power units. *******www.tweaktown**** A little while ago we visited the Antec Taipei office here in Taiwan and got an early and exclusive look at its range of upcoming EarthWatts Platinum power supplies which are set to hit the market next month and really shake things up as far as pricing goes. Antec reckon their competitors are nervous. Antec will soon launch the EA-650 watt Platinum, EA-550 watt Platinum and EA-450 watt Platinum. Each is certified with an 80 Plus Platinum rating which means they achieve up to 93% power efficiency, which is the best rating that can be given to a PSU. Antec claims that the EA-650 model can save up to 25% on your electricity bill - we aren't quite sure how they worked that out, but we'll have to take their word for it until we test their claims. Each comes with a three year warranty and includes a "whisper quiet" 120mm double ball bearing fan with what Antec call long lifetime expectancy. There are little fancy features with these PSU such as an LED on the fan or modular cable management, but they still include key quality components such as Japanese heavy-duty capacitors and Antec CircuitShield which includes over current protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection, short circuit protections and so on. The big story with these power supplies is the cost. The EA-650 which we have focused on in the video above is set to retail for an MSRP of $129.95 USD. For that price from its competitors, you can usually only get a Silver or Gold rated model PSU at the same wattage. Here comes Antec shaking up the market - Platinum PSU prices set to decrease all round soon?

*******www.tweaktowBlizzCon 2011 - Okay, it's another trade show, so there should be booth babes... right?! Well, no. BlizzCon has its own special bread of 'booth babes'. They aren't barely dressed women from Taiwan, Germany or the US, but weird and wonderful people dressed up in some really spectacular costumes as Blizzard game characters.

*******www.tweaktown**** COMPUTEX Taipei 2010 - Again we are back with Ramsom from Thermaltake and this time he showed us another of their highlight products at this year’s show and it is the Armor A30. Stated as being crafted for battle, the A30 is a rather unique sized case that should end up being very suitable for gamers on the move. Inside you can fit two standard desktop size hard drives as well as two 2.5-inch drives such as SSDs. What is even better is that for such a compact and good looking case, it even is even able to support full size video cards such as the ATI Radeon 5970. The sample we saw was only a very early mock-up that was handmade to display during the show, but still Ramsom tells us development is going really well and it should hit the market in around three months for around 130 USD. *******www.tweaktown**** You just got done seeing the new ASUS Eee Slate and one of the other products announced by the Taiwanese company today was the Eee Pad Transformer. Yes, yet another tablet to hit the market, but this one you want. As you can see in the video above, it comes with a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor for full 1080p video playback and ASUS claims it offers the fastest web browsing experience in this class as well as the best multi-tasking performance. Not only that, but ASUS also went on to say that it offers the fastest flash video performance. I am not sure exactly what that means and why it is important - but what is important is that you can watch 1080p YouTube content without dropping frames and / or bring the system to a halt. *******www.tweaktown**** MSI's P67A-GD65 is a mid-range motherboard that uses an LGA-1155 socket which means it supports Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge processors. Straight up it's easy to see MSI design and attitude style in the design and it comes packed with loads of good features. The big one that MSI is pushing is "Military Class II". It has been upgraded from the first version in the P55 boards to provide even better power and stability. This is done through the use of a six phase power SFC choke setup that provides up to 30% better efficiency than standard chokes, 100% Hi-c CAP's and Japanese made solid capacitors with a claimed life-time of an impressive 10 years. It also comes packed with "OC Genie II" which provides quick and easy one button touch overclocking to the CPU frequency. If you have an upcoming MSI H67 motherboard, instead of overclocking the CPU, the OC button will instead overclock the onboard IGP (graphics) instead. Sadly we are unable to report the increased CPU clock speed, but we saw the reported number on the box, and let's just say it's pretty damn impressive and a rather big increase over the default clock speed. You also get official NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire support. Distributed by Tubemogul.
