Eddie Izzard's first appearance on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. He appears with Christine O'Donnell, Jasmine Guy & Martin Mull. The topic of discussion around that time? Bill Clinton, Monica and The Dress.
After the demise of The Jon Stewart Show and before landing his Daily Show gig, Jon Stewart hosted a series of this talk show for the BBC (but filmed in New York City). In this episode, he's joined by Eddie Izzard, Phill Jupitus, Scott Capurro and Laurie Pike.
Grace under pressure, Eddie performs at the 1998 Comic Relief benefit. Just a short bit from the "highlights" version of the show.
Eddie appears wtih Harry Hamlin, Farai Chideya and Janice Crouse. Seriously, Janice is digging Eddie. Check out the eye contact.
The longest, quietest interview of Eddie Izzard I've ever seen. Noted Canadian journalist Arlene Bynon talks with him for nearly an hour about all the subjects he holds dear. What a big hairdo Arlene has!
Another "Who is this guy" piece about Eddie Izzard as part of CNN's 2000 Emmy Countdown
In 2000, Eddie Izzard won two Emmys for his HBO special, "Dress To Kill". Unfortunately, he was overseas working on a film with Matt Leblanc called "All The Queen's Men" and was not able to make it to the US to accept his awards in person. Entertainment Tonight did a feature on the little ceremony Eddie's pals put on to present him with his awards once they were finally shipped to him.
Eddie Izzard appears on PI just a month after his first visit. Others guests are Lea Thompson, Niger Innis & Grace Slick
Yet another appearance by the bird in an airplane. Might be my favorite!
Here's Eddie back on Letterman six months after his first appearance. This was mid-March, 1998 and Eddie went straight for the audience's funny bone and had them from joke one.
Eddie Izzard on Carson Daly's late night show, November 2004. Carson and Eddie get their astrological natal charts read.
Eddie Izzard on Carson Daly's late night show, November 2004. Discussing release of Ocean's 12 and US DVDs of Eddie's "early work."
Eddie Izzard vs. Creationism, from Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball, 2006. One of my favorite bits - about a fly and a window - can be found here.
And here we have Chefgirl's only clip of Eddie on Australian TV (sometimes it pays to have relatives all over the world!) Poor exhausted Eddie was actually taken directly from the plane to the TV station for this one so he was a bit more subdued than usual, although his competitive juices got flowing during the "Buzzers of Death" round. He also came up with an excellent if unethical way of getting points for his team -- bribing the host with cash!
Margaret Smith from the US and John Maloney from the UK were also on stage for this huge, rambunctious live stage/television quiz show. If anyone knows the names of the Australian comedians, please let me know and I'll update these notes!
The whole show is a few hours long with bands and other acts taking the stage so this is just an edited piece of the three best Eddie bits.
Eddie Izzard appears on PI just a month after his first visit. Others guests are Lea Thompson, Niger Innis & Grace Slick. I cut off the opening monologue to fit it to two segments.
Eddie Izzard back with Bill and looking fab. Others guests are Heather Donahue, Holly McClure and Bradley Whitford. I chopped out Bill's monologue to make this show fit into just two segments.
The conclusion of Eddie and Clive's conversation. Eddie answers questions from the audience
Poor Roseanne! This show was cancelled almost before it began. Eddie was a guest during her first week. This clip is very short because it's from the bizarre UK airing of the show...it was aired in the UK a few months after the US but was edited down to a 30 minute show so the guests seemed to be on for about three seconds. Oh well, it's still a rare Eddie clip and that's what this channel is about.
