For an entire 18 minutes last April, a huge chunk of the world’s Internet was routed through servers in China.
Fox News says the report by a U.S. congressional advisory group looked at the increasingly sophisticated malicious Chinese Internet attacks.
“China was able to push 15% of the world’s internet traffic through its servers-it’s called an internet protocol hijacking, and it affected U.S. government websites. The report reads in part, ‘This incident affected traffic to and from U.S. government (‘.gov’) and military (‘.mil’) sites, including those for the Senate, the Army, the Navy, Marine Corps, the Air Force, the office of Secretary of Defense and NASA.”
It’s important to note the report doesn’t conclude whether the incident was accidental or malicious, but The Red Tape Chronicles says regardless -- the cyber cold war between China and the U.S. just got a little chillier...
“Chinese officials disputed the findings. But several technology firms said they charted the hijacking in April. In a prior incident in March, the Chinese censorship firewall was temporarily extended to block some U.S. users from visiting websites like Twitter and YouTube, the report said.”
China retains its innocence. TMC quoted Wang Yongzhen, a senior press official with China Telecom.
“‘These reports by foreign media are completely groundless,’ ...adding his company has always abided by and strictly followed relevant international regulations and standards for Internet operations.”
...but SmarTrend News reports even if it was accidental, it’s worrisome it can happen at all.
CHRISTIE DUFFIE: “Dmitri Alperovtich, a threat research analyst at McAfee said, ‘[The capture] is one of the biggest - if not the biggest hijacks- we have ever seen...The possibilities are numerous and troubling...”
But exactly how it happened is no mystery. Tech site Ars Technica explains “IP hijacking”...
“...Routers rely on the Border Gateway Protocol … to puzzle out the best route between two IP addresses; when one party advertises incorrect routing information, routers across the globe can be convinced to send traffic on geographically absurd paths. This happened famously in 2008, when Pakistan blocked YouTube.”
So what do you think? Internet hijacking, or just an unfortunate coincidence? You tell us.

Today on this 2007 Lexus RX350 we are going to be installing the 4-pole harness part number 18002. The Lexus that we are going to show you today has a unique situation to it. On our website we indicate the wiring for the Lexus is going to be modulite part number 119176. This particular Lexus does have a factory installed tow package that we are going to be able to tap into so we are going to show you how to locate that. The port is located in the rear cargo area of the vehicle underneath the flooring over on the driver side. We are going to need to remove most of this interior section. There is a particular order of operations that we need to abide by to get all of the components out. 00:38
We are going to start by removing the forward most cargo door. We need to pull back the facing at the front section first. There are push rivets that are holding that in place so just pull it up. We need to unscrew the hinges that are holding the flooring into place. There is one screw per side for these hinges. We next remove the forward most cargo storage area. There are two push rivets holding this into position. One on the driver side and one on the passenger side. We are going to be using a rivet removal tool. We need to slide it underneath and just pry it up. 01:11
Next we are going to remove the front storage compartment. To access it we need to release the two coverings and there are buttons at the rear threshold to do that. Again, we have got two push rivets holding it in place. One on the driver side and one on the passenger side. Next we will remove the driver side floor covering and there are actually four bolts holding it into position, two here at the rear side and two at the forward side. Next we will remove the rear threshold piece. There are two push pins that are holding this into position. One on the driver and one on the passenger side. When removing the threshold piece you need to watch the releases for the cargo buttons. Make sure you clear the releases for the cargo doors. When you get the threshold piece to release you need to press these in. Finally we want to remove the driver side storage compartment. We have got two fasteners holding it in position. One push pin here and one here at the inside of the cargo area. 02:22
With all of those components removed, if we look at the main wiring harness feeding the tail light assembly on the driver side, there is a port located right here and that is our tow package port that we are going to be tapping into. Unfortunately this time the manufacturers do not offer an after market plug-in for this port. So what we are going to do is cut this end off and we are going to wire our wiring harness directly into it. Before cutting the end off I am going to remove the fuses activating our tow package so that we do not shorten anything when we cut the wires. You can locate this fuse underneath the hood in our accessory fuse box. If you remove the lid and look at the top side, it is labeled towing 30 amp fuse. We will put that back in when we are finished wiring in our 4-pole. Then back at the port we will cut the wires. The 4-pole harness comes with scotch locks to make our connections with. However I am going to use some standard butt connectors. We tested previously to find out which wires carry which function. The green is our right turn, right brake signal. Yellow is our left turn, left brake signal. The blue wire is our running light lead and the white is the ground. It is pretty similar to the wires that we have got on our 4-pole harness. The white is our ground, the yellow is our left turn, left brake. Green right turn, right brake, and the brown is our running light lead. 03:52
We want to strip back some of the jacketing on each one of the wires. With our wiring stripped back we just want to apply the butt connector. We will the wire into one end and then we will crimp that down. Take the adjoining wire and slide it in and crimp it down as well. Then we just want to tape up those connections. Then for storage of the 4-pole we have two options. We recommend that you leave it inside the vehicle. Store it in the storage compartment over here and then just pull it out the rear cargo door whenever you want to use it. However if you do need it underneath the vehicle permanently there is a grommet there right below the connector. You can just put a splice in that, route the 4-pole through there and then you can leave it underneath the vehicle permanently. From there we just want to put our fuse back into position and reinstall our flooring and then our installation will be complete. With the interior reinstalled we will show you how you can store your 4-pole. When you want to use it again just pull it out the rear door and you can close the door on it. You do not have to worry about it being pinched. The weather stripping at the rear will prevent that from happening. You can see I can still move it side to side freely. With that, that will conclude the installation of 4-pole part number 18002 on a 2007 Lexus RX350.

EL Clasico 2010 - Barcelona v Real Madrid 2010
Barcelona produced a truly legendary performance to go top of the table.
Pep Guardiola deviated little from his favoured XI so far this season – the closest thing to a surprise was at left-back, where Eric Abidal played ahead of Maxwell. Lionel Messi started in the centre, with David Villa on the left.
Jose Mourinho did not change his 4-2-3-1, playing Mesut Ozil despite reports the German would be sacrificed for another ball-winner in midfield. Gonzalo Higuain was not fit enough to start, so Karim Benzema played alone upfront.
First things first – this wasn’t an inherently ‘tactical’ victory. Barcelona won primarily because of the cohesion and quality of the interplay in midfield. Their passing patterns in the centre of the pitch are the result of years of experience playing together, something Real couldn’t hope to match.
Nevertheless, there were various interesting tactical points from the game that may not have decided the outcome, but certainly contributed to Barcelona’s rout.

A 35-year-old father of one -- gunned down by Long Beach, California police. Drunk, he was thought to be wielding -- a weapon.
It turned out to be a water nozzle. Now -- family members are outraged -- alleging police were too quick to fire. Police defend their actions -- as part of protocol.
We’re analyzing coverage from KTLA, ABC7, The Press-Telegram, and The Long Beach Post.
First, to the suspicious activity, which was called in by a neighbor. A report of a drunk man, sitting on a porch, with some kind of weapon. KTLA has the 9-1-1 call.
911 Operator: “Can you give me any description of the gun at all.”
Caller: “Basically what I can see is he’s just moving back and forth. It looks like a little tiny six-shooter or something like that.”
“As the subject was in a seated position, he used a two handed pistol grip hold on the object, as like this as the officers responded, which is consistent with the behavior of someone who is about to discharge a firearm.”
KABC reports, police admit, they never told the man -- Douglas Zerby -- to drop the perceived weapon. They just reacted.
Father: “How can you expect somebody to abide by what you say if you don’t say anything to them, if you just open up on them and shoot them.
Sister: “This is a drunk guy sitting with his head in his hands, and holding a water spiggot. And the Long Beach Police Department but eight bullets inside of him.”
The Press Telegram has more from father Mark Zerby, who says, he plans legal action.
"We pay these a------- $70,000 to $80,000 a year and train them to use pepper spray, or bear spray or Tasers and this is what they do...There's a lot of questions that have to be asked and you can rest assured that I'm going to find the right people to ask them...I'm going to have a good attorney and my own investigators on this ASAP and ... maybe we can get (the officer responsible) off the streets."
But in the Long Beach Post, Greggory Moore says, while he’s no police apologist, the fact that two officers fired simultaneously in rapid succession means, they felt the threat was real.
“...it's either that, or these two officers who arrived at a ‘man with a gun’ call chose needlessly to kill someone just because a convenient opportunity arose. And while not beyond the realm of possibility, it does strain credulity here. We ... will never know what we would have done in the officers' position...”"
So what do you think? Trigger happy cops? Or, is the drunk man to blame?

1 John 3:10-15[NKJV] The Imperative of Love
10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, qthat we should love one another,
12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

A week after the Tucson tragedy - the Sunday shows had to decide whether or not to continue what has become a national conversation about violent rhetoric, gun control, and mental health.
Every show touched on the hot button issues, but CNN’s State of the Union and ABC’s This Week took it a step further. Candy Crowley devoted her entire show to the issue of mental health- and Christiane Amanpour hosted a town hall meeting in Arizona.
One big issue up for discussion- gun control. How did a guy like Jared Loughner legally buy a gun and ammo? Although it’s unlikely Congress will pass any serious limitations on gun ownership, two Democratic members of Congress say, it’s time to consider it.
SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER (D-NY): “Like all the other rights, it’s not absolute. First Amendment: we have laws against pornography. You can’t scream ‘Fire!’ falsely in a crowded theater. There should be limits on gun laws as well.” (NBC)
REP. RAUL GRIJALVA (D-AZ): “We have to talk about the issue of access and that’s not undercutting the Second Amendment at all. And then we have to talk about munitions, magazines, the caliber. These are all fair discussions to have now.”
But Republican Senator Tom Coburn says- restrictions only affect law-abiding citizens.
SEN. TOM COBURN (R-OK): “The people who are going to commit a crime or do something crazy aren’t going to pay attention to the laws in the first place.” (NBC)
Finally- CBS’ Bob Schieffer calls the issue- a matter of common sense.
BOB SCHIEFFER (Host, Face the Nation): “But if we can find a way to bar minors from buying alcohol, if we can keep those with bad eyesight from driving, if the army can find a way to keep Loughner from joining, can we not find a way to keep the mentally deranged from buying weapons?”
Another Sunday talking point- mental health. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says, Loughner fell through the cracks of a broken mental health system.
FMR. MAYOR RUDY GIULIANI (R-NY): “He was being told to be treated. People were saying he was bizarre. People were saying he was frightening. A teacher wouldn’t be with him without a guard being there. Gosh, you would think at some point along the way, he’d have been evaluated.”
On ABC’s special edition of This Week, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a friend of Gabby Giffords, agrees.
REP. DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ (D-FL): “This is not a gap in law enforcement. We have a tremendous gap in coverage for mental health care.
On CNN, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano says- enough talk- let’s do something about mental health policy.
REP. GRACE NAPOLITANO (D-CA): “I think we need to begin to press upon the state and federal governments the urgency of this. Because every time there’s a tragedy, there’s a lot of hoopla for a month or two but then it dies down, goes away, everybody forgets about it and we’re on to the next thing.”
And summing up her thoughts on the special edition of State of the Union, host Candy Crowley says- she hopes the show did some good.
CANDY CROWLEY (Host, State of the Union): “This is a person who suffered from a mental illness and affected the lives of hundreds of people…We thought it was time to look at mental illness and treatments, what’s available. An hour wasn’t long enough but I really loved the show.”
Finally- our running tally of who’s in and who’s out of the 2012 presidential race- Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty tells Fox News, he might be IN...but he’s not sure how far he’ll go.
FMR. GOV. TIM PAWLENTY (R-MN): "For somebody like me, you have to do very well - win - or do very well in Iowa…My name ID outside of Minnesota isn't very high. It was about 15 percent about a year ago amongst Republicans, and it’s not particularly high outside of Northern Iowa.”

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. That seems to be China’s approach to the Internet. State-owned news agency Xinhua and state-owned China Mobile - China's largest phone carrier - are teaming up to run Panguso - China's newest - and government-approved search engine.
This joint venture was announced last summer - right after Google decided to pull out of China because the search giant refused to continue censoring material. A CBS report details the repercussions of Google's departure.
“Now when users in mainland China go on to use this site, like this, they're automatically redirected to a different site based in Hong Kong, where Google isn't legally required to censor itself. ... China's own filter, known as the ‘Great Firewall of China’ is still at work screening out sensitive material. In fact there are concerns that China could now clamp down even harder...”
And it certainly looks like they have. In terms of just what Panguso is leaving out, PC Magazine notes...
“According to Panguso, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo doesn't exist. The same is true for the People's University in Beijing, the first university founded after the 1949 communist revolution. "Dalai Lama" returns only tourism sites or state-sponsored criticism.”
But Panguso isn’t the only search engine on the market. Baidu, the current prominent search engine, accounts for more than 75 percent of web searches. But as TMCnet notes, Panguso offers a platform that Baidu doesn’t.
“...Baidu only controls about 36 percent of the mobile search market. By partnering with China Mobile, Xinhua may soon have a leg up on its competition in the mobile space.”
But a blogger for Download Squad suggests the Chinese government might have an ulterior motive -- trying to get a slice of the search engine market.
“China already has a very strict policy on censoring politically-sensitive material, which Baidu strictly abides by -- so unless it wants to further extend its control of information inside its borders, why would the Chinese government be interested in offering an alternative?”
According to Xinhua, the search engine will primarily focus on news for now. Xinhua will provide the news content -- and China Mobile - the mobile subscriber base.

Term Limits video about Glenn Addison's position on how term limits can restore citizen legislators and accountability to Congress. Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Texas.
Career politicians should abide by the same legislation they impose on common Americans. Term limits keep congress working “for the people”, not working for re-election. Congress’ exclusive health care plans, lavish pension plans, salary rollbacks. Our founding fathers want accountability, smaller government, freedom from special interests, and limited incumbent legislators.

One small child with a peanut allergy has led a group of parents to protest her presence in a Florida classroom. Edgewater Elementary is required by law to protect the 6-year-old girl, which includes employing a peanut-sniffing dog, forcing her classmate to wash their hands repeatedly and rinse out mouths.
CNN breaks down the tension building between parents and the precautions.
REPORTER: “Parents are debating whether the rule infringes on the rights of students and take time away from education.”
PARENT 1: “I guess it’s not fair, for one kid to have a set of standards that rest of the kids have to abide by.”
PARENT 2: “It’s protecting the safety of the child, everybody has a right to an education.”
The Centers for Disease Control says food allergies have increased by 18 percent from 1997 to 2007, so the school’s actions could impact other districts with allergic students.
NBC reveals Edgewater parents’ frustrations.
REPORTER: “How much time is being wasted washing hands in your mind?”
MOTHER: “30 minutes, almost 30 minutes a day.”
REPORTER: “In a week?”
MOTHER: “Two and a half hours.”
REPORTER: “And do you add it up over the school year?”
MOTHER: “Almost, what, 80 hours?”
REPORTER: “And that to you is?”
MOTHER: “A lot of time that’s being taken away from their education.”
But a reporter from Orlando’s WFLX, who also has a child with food allergies, reports the school’s protocol is helpful, if not necessary, for the health of all children.
“I have been told over and over again that because of the protocol of being in class with Brody, other kids don’t get sick as much. Think about it, if you’re forcing kids to wash their hands, if you’re forcing kids to wipe their faces--the germs, forget about the allergen, the germs aren’t going back and forth.”
A former teacher weighed in on Fox News - questioning the burden being put on first graders.
“This is borderline ridiculous. The mother said the child could not just develop a rash but possibly die if she were exposed. So are you telling me that your placing the potential death of a 6-year-old in the hands of a 6-year-old?”
WKMG goes straight to the source and asks the father about his daughter’s role in the struggle.
REPORTER: “The Bailey’s apologize for the interruption but say it’s their job to protect their child.”
DAD: “We would love for everything to be normal. And I’d love to have everybody else have a normal life.”
In response to the parents’ protest, school officials decided students will no longer have to rinse their mouths with water.
