Fed up of tinny noise from your mobile phone? Don't want to buy stupid adapters? Then use a guitar! (though this could be classed as a stupid adapter.... but if you happen to have one handy...) You could also make a device with a set of pickups which you could carry around with you and plug into any amplifier
I did try to narrate this, but my microphone is terrible. So I shall describe what I'm doing here. First we have a button magnet and 2 pieces of card, which I'm sticking to either end to make it easier to coil the insulated copper wire. However, I am drunk, and don't realise I have inappropiate glue. So I use 2 pennies and put them on either end of the magnet. After coiling approximately 2 metres of copper wire around the magnet, I removed the pennies and sellotape it up to keep the wire in place. I then attach the wires to a mono jack (i suggest you solder it, i just twisted them together). I would also advise using more copper wire/more coils that I did, as I had to amplify the signal quite a lot, the more coils the better the pickup I believe. Anyways, as you can see, putting this over the speaker on my mobile successfully amplified it. My aplogies for the poor production values but I have terrible equipment.

Amplify, which provides Natural Language Processing solutions for customers who want to understand and better target advertising to online content, announced its first big U.S. partnership with social Media ad targeting firm Lotame, CEO Mark Redgrave told Andy at the AlwaysOn conference last month.
"We are simply intercepting content in social media properties that are part of that network," he says. "We are understanding that content, and therefore giving Lotame much deeper insights into how to better monetize and indeed how to embellish user profiles, because there's a lot of content in social networks that can be used actually to further enhance the user profiling capability."
Amplify's technology is built on the inventions of a Swedish professor who taught at Brown and MIT, "so we have some real chops in our intellectual property," Redgrave says.
