Porn star turned performance artist Annie Sprinkle and life her partner, Elizabeth Stevens, held their annual Love Art Laboratory at UC-Santa Cruz this past weekend. This years themes were love, compassion, environmentalism, and the Earth. Appropriately, the event was dubbed the "Green Wedding." Singles Night at The Mikado in NY will kick off Saturday June 7th at 8pm at the NY City Center. Read more at *******www.BroadwayBulletin**** The Drama Desk Awards took place this past weekend and South Pacific led the way with five awards. Best Musical went to Passing Strange, while Best Play went to August: Osage County. August: Osage County, Passing Strange, and Gypsy each garnered three awards. The Drama Desk also presented a special, lifetime achievement awards to Edward Albee and James Earl Jones. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, last seen on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will make the transition to the small screen to star in the new Fox comedy Do Not Disturb. The show is about a wacky local inn and co-stars Radio Golf's Harry Lennox. The Drama Desk Awards aren't the only Broadway awards show this week, as tomorrow, May 22, The Outer Circle Critics Awards will be handed out at the famous Sardi's. The winners were announced May 12 and included Young Frankenstein and Xanadu in a tie for Best Musical. August: Osage County took home Outstanding New Broadway Play and South Pacific took home four awards, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical. In The Heights tops the list with 13 nominations, while the revival of South Pacific picked up 11. Tracy Letts' August: Osage County received the most for best new play with 7 nods. As for other musicals, Passing Strange, Xanadu and Cry Baby were all nominated for best new musical. In other Tony news, Stephen Sondheim will receive a special achievement award at this years awards ceremony. Theaterworks USA has announced their free summer theatre program. The production will be The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks by Joe Iconis. Performances begin Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.) and runs through Friday, August 22. Just a reminder, more than 20,000 FREE tickets will be distributed to The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks this summer. The fine people at Tonys' saw fit to honor me with my very own portrait. Stephen Byrd, the producer of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, will be taking the Broadway show to the big screen. The movie, based on the availability of its stars, will begin shooting next year. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof will finish its run on Broadway on June 22. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof isn't the only Broadway show getting the silver screen treatment. August: Osage County and Master Harold and the Boys will also get cinematic treatment. Master Harold is scheduled to begin shooting in Durban, South Africa under the direction of Lonny Price beginning July 10. Liz Callaway will bring her cabaret act The Beat Goes On to Feinstein's at the Loews Regency, June 17-28. The big surprise of the evening was Linda Lavin from The New Century beating out Rondi Reed from August: Osage County for Best Featured Actress In A Play. The highlight of the evening was Harvey Fierstein and Laurence Fishburne waltzing onstage after Laurence was announced the winner of the Best Solo Performance award. So its not Broadway, but its certainly dramatic. Bridezilla will return for its fifth season on WE TV on June 3. To coincide with the new season, WE TV is having ten brides climb a 15-foot slice of wedding cake, while dressed in full wedding gown attire in Times Square.
