This is dedicated to all of the families that are living with autism. We understand the amount of care and enduring love that it takes for families how have autistic children. With the lack of resources available to these families...this only adds to the stress in their lives. We at Awareness Media would like the public to know just how serious Autism is in's a few stats. - More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than AIDS, Diabetes and Cancer combined. Leukemia - 1 child out of 25,000 Funded annually: $310 mill Muscular Dystrophy - 1 child out of 20,000 Funded annually: $175 mill. Pediatric AIDS - 1 child out of 8,000 Funded annually: $394 mill. Juvenile Diabetes - 1 child out of 500 Funded annually: $130 mill. Autism - 1 child out of 166 Funded annually: $100 mill. As you see, there clearly is a need for more monies allocated towards the research for Autism. In closing, our hearts go out to all of those who are currently have children affected by austism, (as well as those to come). Please...volunteer, donate...or just speak out about autism...many families will appreciate all that you do. Sincerely, BRICK CASEY

Children of the Stars is the remarkable true story of the Chinese Feng Jia Wei family. They come to Beijing in a state of suicidal crisis as they cannot cope with their violent autistic son. He is also unable to speak or connect with them on any emotional level. His mother and father have brought him to the city to attend a special course at the Stars & Rain Institute of Autism. Their hope is to find a “miracle” cure. The film follows them as they grow to understand their son has a life-long condition whilst undergoing a deeply touching journey that reveals the incredible power and tenderness of parental love. It’s one of the most moving and inspirational documentaries you will see. A film by Robin Aspey and Alexander Haase. A second chance. It's not only the title of a Bethlehem mother's new's also the theme of her life. To say Sandra Gerencher has her hands full is an understatement. On top of being a Special Ed teacher in the Bangor school district, she's also a single Mom to four. PJ, Shelby, Ramsies, and 13 year old Terry. She adopted Terry, who has severe Autism 5 years ago. Asbergers, Autism, Mental Retardation. You name it he has it, seizures. The dogs were rescued too. Ramsies is from a high kill shelter. Ramsies followed Terry where ever he went. Terry's bond with dogs started when he first moved in with Sandra. When adopted said he could never talk in full sentences. When he talks to dogs he does in full sentences. Sandra recently put that bond to paper in a book called Second Chance. It teaches kid's about adoption. A lot of technical books out there but none, kid's can really understand. Sandra's pooches, past and present, she's adopted 7 within the past 10 years, share the page with Terry. The dog simplifies what adoption is and puts in terms that a child can understand. For Sandra adoption means a Second chance. Not only for Terry PJ, Shelby and Ramsies but also for her. I was lonely, missing something in my life. I wanted to be a Mother and that's what a second chance is. Sandra's book is available on Amazon**** and at Barnes and Noble****
